I found a box of old newspapers...
I found a box of old newspapers that range from 1830 to 2001. Unbelievably, it’s the same old sort of BS news we hear every day. Nothing every changes but the year!

Here are some headlines for you:

September 18, 1930 - 42 Congressmen will lose seats –Powerful Old Leaders given cold rejection – Coolidge friend is Victor and Hoover Supporter Snowed Under –Food Poisoning Sweeps College –Four Miners Killed by explosion of Ga

July 31, 1930 - Ford and Edison Tell What’s Wrong –Chicago Gang Hacks Victim – Former Judge Gets Six Years –Liquor seized on City Boat

July 18, 1993 – Class Warfare makes taking High Road Nearly Impossible – Complaints of Racial Harassment in Workplace Rise

July 20, 1993 –Ex-Postmaster Guilty in House Scandal

July 22, 1993 – Clues Scant in Suicide of Clinton Aide – EPA makes target of 2nd hand smoke

August 5, 1993 - Senate Oks $5.8 Billion in Flood Aid –Officers Get 2 ½ year terms for Beating King

April 6, 1994 – Children cling to life –Police find drugs, guns in car that rammed kids waiting for bus

August 21, 1998- US missiles strike 2 terrorist targets – Clinton retaliates for US embassy bombings –Lewinsky tells more about encounters, gifts

August 22, 1998 –America on Alert –This is unfortunately the war of the future (Secretary of State Madeline Albright) –The FAA ordered tighter security at all airports. At Lambert, the security force was beefed up and more bomb-sniffing dogs were on patrol. New security measures also were ordered at military bases, nuclear reactors, federal buildings across the country
(Editors note: so this TSA shit is not Bush's fault! lol)

August 23, 1998 – US escalates terrorism fight – Clinton bans companies from deals with Bin Laden

September 11, 1998 – Starr’s report accuses Clinton of lying to jury, abusing power

January 1, 2000 –Y2K, A global block party –Yeltsin resigns, hands power to Putin – Hijackers release hostages

September 12, 2001 Our Nation Saw Evil

Oh yea..in 1930 a carton of smokes cost $1.28..talk about inflation!

I really need to scan all of those old newspapers for future generations. Not that they will give a shit but maybe they will like it on Facebook. LOL

So it looks like the "Patriot Act" was in full swing in 1998 under Clinton. Bush just gave it a name and signed it into law in 2001.

LOL...That answer is YES!

I was cleaning out a closet and found a box labeled "Old News Papers." I thought, what the hell was I thinking when I saved a box of "Old Newspapers." I was about to chuck it into the trash when I decided to look through it.

Anything you want to know about 9/11? I have news papers as they were printed on that day. Interesting...very Interesting!

I guess its a good thing that some of us hoarders actually hoarded News. They can try to change and blur the facts about historical events, but I have it in print. Just as they released their lies.

Re: I found a box of old newspapers...
What a cool find. My first apartment was in an old building with a business on the first floor and 4 one bedroom apartments on the second. There was a small door in the wall in the hallway and one day I decided to open it and see what was in it. I found a grocery sack filled with old newspapers from the 1940s. I spent that evening reading them all. My favorite part was the ads. If I remember correctly a loaf of bread was about 7 cents and a gallon of milk was 35 cents.

Yes, the ads are amazing! I spent the better part of 2 days reading through those old newspapers. Its amazing how things have gotten so expensive in such a short time.
