you fall asleep and aren't fully awake.

I'd see a dr about that, you coudl have narcolepsy, and falling asleep while driving is dangerous!

It seems more obvious she falls asleep watching "The Three Stooges" movies... If she's driving, just don't make her laugh... hf

I don't fall asleep while driving. I do take medication during the day to stay alert, I just don't take medications at night for my sleep, as the only option my doctor gives me is the date rape drug.

Again...can't hurt to get a second opinion and BE SURE it is in no way paranormal related.

Your call and life though. 1dunno1

Sleep paralysis doesn't cause stereos to turn on, doors being slammed, chairs knocked over, and your cat to be frightened.
Your problem is that you are in denial and not taking care of the real problem, a demon. Stop giving excuses.

According the classical "Possessions for Dummies", the first steps (opression, infestation) seem to have been done by whatever it was. The next step (possession) usually is preceded by some sort of tricky invitation using the weak victim's will (the dream about the guy claiming "let me in!"), but our friend's will seems to be on guard, even asleep. Actually we don't know the OP's conscious & subconscious personality of emotional charácter, personal story from childhood and true essential psychology. She says she's narcoleptic and suffers sleep paralysis' episodes. She seems to manage some amount of periodical stress by whatever. Maybe she is simply the focus of poltergeist activity being its epicenter her own psychic & emotional stress projected on her daily background under some kind of personal contexts... Go figure.
 Quoting: Inerrancia

I am in denial. I know this, I try to explain it all away. But I don't know where it came from! I am honestly a very good person. I'm always happy, and the first person all my friends and family come to for help, or a kind word. I'm not a saint by any means, believe me. But I don't know why it would follow me all my life. Those examples I gave were only a few. I have many many more. But it all gets ramped up when I am about to move. I don't know how to get rid of this activity, I didn't ask for it and most people will think I am out of my mind if I mention it.

Re: Strange things happen when I pack to move. Ghosts? Help!
It started when I was 5. I woke up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water from my bathroom sink and after I got the water and looked in the mirror behind me I saw the most terrifying sight I have ever in my life seen. To this day I still remember the face looking at me. I dropped my cup and ran to my parents room. That night after I was laying in between my parents was the first episode of sleep paralysis I ever had. I felt like someone was pulling me out of my parents bed by my foot. I wanted to scream but I couldn't. I couldn't make a single noise. It felt like forever but I'm sure it wasn't even a few minutes. When I came to, I was screaming so loud my parents thought I broke a bone.

Re: Strange things happen when I pack to move. Ghosts? Help!
It seems as though every time I am packing to move strange things happen around my house.

The first noticeable time was when I was packing my home up from Florida to move to Nebraska. I had just gotten back into town from a trip to Nebraska to find a home to rent, it was about 11pm when I got back into town. I was tired from the 22 hour drive and just went straight into my bedroom to pass out. My cousin was with me in bed (both females) and we had been laying in bed for about 15 minutes. Mind you the house was silent with the exception of my bathroon vent fan, as we didn't turn on anything, just went straight to bed. She asked if I heard the bass sound coming from downstairs. I told her it was my fan and to go to sleep. She insisted it wasn't so I got up to turn the fan off to show her it was nothing.

I turned off the fan and immediately laughed. It was music playing. The song "Stay just a little bit longer" by The Temptations. I was so tired I forgot we didn't turn anything on. I was like oh its my stereo. I looked at her, and her face was frozen in horror. It took me a minute before it dawned on me, we weren't alone. My mind went immediately to an intruder since I hadn't been home in a month. The next song that played was "Magic Carpet Ride" by Steppinwolfe. We just sat there in silence, afraid to make any noise. As soon as that song was over the first song played again. It was a loop of the two songs over and over for about 15 minutes. We just sat there. I was shaking and called my best friend whose husband was a police officer and whispered for him to get over here, he lived about 2 blocks away.

When he got to my house he walked in the front door and I could hear him going from room to room and when he got to my bedroom he found my cousin and I frozen on the bed. He said there was no one in the house but my stereo was going full blast in my dining room. Mind you I lived on a Military base and it was the safest place to be, and my doors were all locked after I got home. His wife had a key. We went downstairs and I unplugged my stereo, which continued to play for about 20 seconds after I unplugged it. I didn't stay in that home for the rest of the week as I packed my belongings, and felt extremely uneasy as I packed.

The second noticeable strange occurrence was when I was packing my things to move from Nebraska to Germany. My bedroom was in my basement and the room next to mine was the laundry room. I had just spent the entire day packing and was exhausted. I went straight to bed and was the only one in the house. As I was laying there, I could hear my dryer door open. It has a distinct sound... I just laid there thinking i misheard it. A few seconds later it slammed close. I got up and went into the room and no one was there. So I laid back down telling myself I was imagining things. A few minutes later I could hear someone walking upstairs in my living room. So I got up thinking a friend had just let herself into my house. I went upstairs and no one was there. By this time I was extremely exhausted and just wanted to sleep. So I laid down on my couch and said fuck it, might as well sleep up here since I'm going nuts down there.

As I was laying there about to fall asleep, sleep paralysis took over. I am narcoleptic and this is a common occurrence to me when I am stressed out. I just laid there unable to move while I saw a man walking through my living room towards me and sat on my chest. ( this is common for me to imagine as I am having an episode.)

The next morning after I awoke from a strange dream of someone knocking on my door asking to be let in, and I wouldn't let him in and he got angry and screamed at me. I didn't stay in that house again as I packed. I stayed with my Mother.

The next time strange things happened I was packing my belongings from the Barracks in Germany (on an Army base) to move back to Nebraska yet again. I wasnt alone in the house this time. My (now ex)husband was there with me and our 2 children. We had spent the entire day watching movers pack our things and just had our loaner furniture delivered so we could ship our belongings back early. Every night for 3 weeks while we were in our apartment we could hear boots going up and down the hallway. My cat Simon wouldnt leave my side for those 3 weeks. He was constantly stressed out and puffed up and looking this way and that. He slept with me, huddled up against me every single night. This was not normal for him as he usually loved free roam of the house while we slept. Poor fella was back to normal when we got back to Nebraska.

And now.... I am packing up my things to move out of my current home again. I am moving 2 hours away. I just packed a box of my knick knacks from my curio cabinet in my dining room and went into my living room to take a break (I saw a spider and had to walk away before I got itchy) So I am sitting in my living room, my daughter is with me playing on her xbox and my son is upstairs in his room. My cats are upstairs sleeping on my bed. My daughter and I hear a crash and just sat here looking at each other trying to figure out what just happened. I walk into my dining room and 3 of the 6 chairs that go to my table are laying on their side on the ground.

There was no one in the room to do that, and they are heavy chairs that don't just fall over. WHY? Why do weird unexplainable things happen whenever I am making a move? Id really like to not be afraid of my home. My oldest cat is now pacing my upstairs meowing as loud and insistent as he can.

I am sure if you have read through all of this you think I am either crazy, or making it up. That's OK. But for those that have any sort of experience in this matter, could you chime in and tell me whats going on? I'm just tired of having to pay for a hotel every time I pack my things up.

After reading your first two occurrences, I am 100% completely convinced you have demons following you. Do yourself some research on what to get RID of... Occult related items, anything with ties to curses or people who perform witchcraft, etc... My sister in law has similar experiences and one is directly tied to a key fob she received from a friend who went on to commit suicide shortly afterward. It is a Saint Christopher key fob, which I found out is to protect demonic forces from those of Christians. Very creepy shit. It would randomly go missing and then one day be in a really in your face kind of place where she had definitely not placed it. Myfather also has demons following him and one sat on his chest one night and prevented him from getting out of bed for about 15 minutes, he couldnt talk or anything... He dabbled in some shit when he was a kid and it/they have not left him alone since, but he has made zero effort to know God. Use the kjv bible to your advantage. Pray everyday to our Creator. Believe that he will depart these evil beings from you. Annoint your house. If you dont BELIEVE wholeheartedly in the power/word/saving grace of God, then do NOT yet annoint---- get to that point first otherwise you will just piss off the demons and theyll return sevenfold. I know it all sounds really on one side of the fence, but this is what WILL work. I you want t o rid yourself of this demon. God bless

A Prayer for God’s Protection

71 I run to you, Lord,
for protection.
Don’t disappoint me.
2 You do what is right,
so come to my rescue.
Listen to my prayer
and keep me safe.
3 Be my mighty rock,[a]
the place
where I can always run
for protection.
Save me by your command!
You are my mighty rock
and my fortress.

4 Come and save me, Lord God,
from vicious and cruel
and brutal enemies!
5 I depend on you,
and I have trusted you
since I was young.
6 I have relied on you
from the day I was born.
You brought me safely
through birth,
and I always praise you.

7 Many people think of me
as something evil.
But you are my mighty protector,
8 and I praise and honor you
all day long.
9 Don’t throw me aside
when I am old;
don’t desert me
when my strength is gone.
10 My enemies are plotting
because they want me dead.
11 They say, “Now we’ll catch you!
God has deserted you,
and no one can save you.”
12 Come closer, God!
Please hurry and help.
13 Embarrass and destroy
all who want me dead;
disgrace and confuse
all who want to hurt me.
14 I will never give up hope
or stop praising you.
15 All day long I will tell
the wonderful things you do
to save your people.
But you have done much more
than I could possibly know.
16 I will praise you, Lord God,
for your mighty deeds
and your power to save.

17 You have taught me
since I was a child,
and I never stop telling about
your marvelous deeds.
18 Don’t leave me when I am old
and my hair turns gray.
Let me tell future generations
about your mighty power.
19 Your deeds of kindness
are known in the heavens.
No one is like you!

20 You made me suffer a lot,
but you will bring me
back from this deep pit
and give me new life.
21 You will make me truly great
and take my sorrow away.

22 I will praise you, God,
the Holy One of Israel.
You are faithful.
I will play the harp
and sing your praises.
23 You have rescued me!
I will celebrate and shout,
singing praises to you
with all my heart.
24 All day long I will announce
your power to save.
I will tell how you disgraced
and disappointed

Demons like to prey on the weak and innocent. They are still preying on the OP and are looking for a way in and are trying to weaken her. She must pray. The Bible says to pray to Almighty God through Jesus Christ if she wants to go in that direction. Or just pray and ask for direction. Her sleep problems could be caused by them since it started the night she saw the demon.

Re: Strange things happen when I pack to move. Ghosts? Help!

This has happened to me since I was a child. My sleep paralysis always has an intruder of some sort who either stands at the side of my bed whispering horrible things to me or sits on my chest. My doctor has explained it away to me saying it's my brain in hyper vigilance mode making up a worst case scenario while my body is asleep.
 Quoting: Brandywine84

Hmm, so what object have you brought with you since childhood, that only ever gets moved when you pack?

I mean, it sounds like you have no problems until you decide to move, which kind of rules out a traditional harmful/vengeful entity.

You didn't happen to get an heirloom from a deceased family member when you were a child, perhaps a loving but grumpy family member?

Yeah, she may want to get rid of stuff. Even religious items can be possessed like you mentioned. Anything can have a demon/s attached to it. Household items, clothing, jewelry, books, movies, etc. OP, if you pray and get a thought in your head about something it might be the problem and get rid of it.

This is what I have done and it works for me if I desire a good night's sleep.

I surround myself with the mental image of a cocoon of radiating white brilliant light. I project this image with the intent that nothing that is evil or capable of harming me can penetrate it.

When you get good at projecting this personal cocoon, then you can expand it to include your home and family if desired.

They cannot penetrate the light if that is your wish. If you need additional power, then state that you are Love and Light and a child of the One Creator and that they have no power over you.

Not all are bad. Some are there to help you wake up and see that reality is not as finite as you have been lead to believe.

Good Luck with the move and your life.

By overcoming your fear of the sleep paralysis incidents, you have mastered a major hurdle. Now be as objective when the happenings occur in the Non-sleep state, and you will be far along the road to mastering fear in general.

Hi, OP.

I sincerely enjoyed reading your tale, and I think you have a very real talent/gift as a writer. I gave your story five stars just because it was so well-written.

Just a suggestion, though: You might want to look up how "lie" (to recline) and "lay" (to set) are used, and their tenses. Lay is the past tense of lie (to recline), and laid is the past tense of lay (to set). I am NOT trying to be any kind of "grammar policeman" here -- I am certainly not perfect in that regard!! -- but, as I said, I truly think you have what it takes to be a paid writer!

These events are all completely true. Thank you for the grammar suggestion though! As I wrote it out, it struck me as wrong but I kept it anyways.

A Prayer for God’s Protection

71 I run to you, Lord,
for protection.
Don’t disappoint me.
2 You do what is right,
so come to my rescue.
Listen to my prayer
and keep me safe.
3 Be my mighty rock,[a]
the place
where I can always run
for protection.
Save me by your command!
You are my mighty rock
and my fortress.

4 Come and save me, Lord God,
from vicious and cruel
and brutal enemies!
5 I depend on you,
and I have trusted you
since I was young.
6 I have relied on you
from the day I was born.
You brought me safely
through birth,
and I always praise you.

7 Many people think of me
as something evil.
But you are my mighty protector,
8 and I praise and honor you
all day long.
9 Don’t throw me aside
when I am old;
don’t desert me
when my strength is gone.
10 My enemies are plotting
because they want me dead.
11 They say, “Now we’ll catch you!
God has deserted you,
and no one can save you.”
12 Come closer, God!
Please hurry and help.
13 Embarrass and destroy
all who want me dead;
disgrace and confuse
all who want to hurt me.
14 I will never give up hope
or stop praising you.
15 All day long I will tell
the wonderful things you do
to save your people.
But you have done much more
than I could possibly know.
16 I will praise you, Lord God,
for your mighty deeds
and your power to save.

17 You have taught me
since I was a child,
and I never stop telling about
your marvelous deeds.
18 Don’t leave me when I am old
and my hair turns gray.
Let me tell future generations
about your mighty power.
19 Your deeds of kindness
are known in the heavens.
No one is like you!

20 You made me suffer a lot,
but you will bring me
back from this deep pit
and give me new life.
21 You will make me truly great
and take my sorrow away.

22 I will praise you, God,
the Holy One of Israel.
You are faithful.
I will play the harp
and sing your praises.
23 You have rescued me!
I will celebrate and shout,
singing praises to you
with all my heart.
24 All day long I will announce
your power to save.
I will tell how you disgraced
and disappointed
 Quoting: Goofy for God

Thank you Goofy, I pray every single night and have a great relationship with God. I usually just say the Lords Prayer and thank him for my day, and hand my problems over to him for the night. I do notice a lot of the time my words will get jumbled up or that I will lose my place a lot of the time and have to have great determination to get the prayer out sometimes. By the time I am done saying it I am a lot more peaceful.

 Quoting: Rabid Wolf

I have quite a few items from my childhood as they were in my home at that time and my Mother gave them to me. I have a herd of Goebel Elephants that were my Grandmothers. I also have a vintage radio that was my Great Grandmothers that I picked out from her house when she passed. And my Grandfathers feather pillow because it was what he rested on every night as he slept. Id really like to not have to give these items up. I love and cherish them. Those I have had since childhood. I have more that came after that time period from other deceased relatives and friends.

I just got off the phone with my Mom, took the plunge and sounded like I had lost my mind when I asked her if anything weird ever seemed amiss when I was 5. I've tried over the years to tell her what was going on and she always dismissed me, and was much happier with the sleep disorder diagnosis. My mother is not a religious person. I wasn't raised with it and had to find my own personal relationship with God.

She said when I was younger I used to sit up in my Grandmothers attic and talk to someone who wasn't there. She said it was my imaginary friend. I don't remember this. And I have very vivid memories and can remember as far back as 3 years old and eating grapes with my Grandpa. He peeled them for me and kept saying I was eating his eye. Strange I know but it made me laugh so hard.

I'm really creeped out right now.

I know. I am quite used to them happening. I will never be fully comfortable with it as they are disturbing, but I don't think they are supernatural. Just an annoying pest... Much like my sleep attacks that always happen when I am laughing really hard.

Re: Strange things happen when I pack to move. Ghosts? Help!
I believe your story and that you are being truthful.

Reading your posts I couldn't help but receive the impression that the experience you reported when you were 5 years old is very important to examine and revisit . Not so much the details of the experience itself - but the fear and negative emotions that it generated within you as a result. When you are so young the mind is not very experienced nor well-developed - and therefore you are not psychologically prepared to process such an unusual and startling experience in a healthy manner. It's okay though - that's not your fault! Therefore the natural tendency and reaction to such an experience is to suppress and repress those difficult & uncomfortable emotions that were generated. They don't get processed in a matter that allows you to release them - but rather that emotional energy is pushed out of the surface of your consciousness and stored in the subconscious mind where it will linger/fester and will continue to have an impact on you in ways that are not always easily identifiable.

I'm not saying that your unresolved fear is necessarily the direct cause of these abnormal experiences that you are reporting - but I suspect it is somehow tied to and connected with it. Therefore I feel that confronting and addressing that fear from your past may ultimately be the key to bringing about the resolution and the relief that you are longing for. If there is some type of 'bond' here that is facilitating these experiences - it would be rooted in the psychic (psychological) realm and therefore it's very important to direct your conscious energy towards releasing the fear associated with the traumatic experience from your past.

How do you feel about this perspective? Do you still feel inclined to hide and run from those emotions and the memories of that experience from your childhood?

huh

I don't usually like to think about what happened when I was 5. Thinking about it makes me want to cry and I feel literally sick to my stomach. I don't know if it was just my imagination, as children often do think things go bump in the night. But when I think back to my childhood, I was a fairly sheltered child. My parents never watched scary movies or talked about anything of the paranormal nature. They are very scientific in their spiritual beliefs and believe everything can be explained.

I am trying to remember if anything out of the ordinary happened that day and I cant come up with anything. I remember going to my half day of kindergarten, playing duck duck goose and heads up 7up. I walked home and my Mom wasn't home yet from work, so I made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. When she got home she was upset with me for leaving the bread open and explained why we need to close it.

My sister came home from school and I was on her top bunk of our bunk bed and she pushed me off and told me I wasn't allowed to be up there. So I went upstairs to my Grandmas apartment and watched TV until my Dad came home and it was dinner time.

I remember we had peas with dinner that night, I hated peas. They were the canned kind. I didn't like how mushy they were, and my Mom wouldn't let me leave the table until they were finished. I sat there at the table until bedtime.

I went to sleep. I have always been able to fall asleep fairly quickly. I've been told within a few minutes of my head hitting my pillow my breathing is steady and deep.

I woke up and my house was silent, and I could hear my Dad snoring loudly. My bedroom was right next to the bathroom. From where my bed was I could turn my head to the left and see into it. We had a nightlight in there so I could see.

I got up because my mouth was dry and tasted funny. I always liked the taste of the bathroom water in the middle of the night. It always tasted better for some reason so my Mom always left a cup next to the sink for me. I took my Popple stuffed animal with me, and got my drink.

As my cup was going to my mouth I looked in the mirror. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up and I could feel the back of my head freezing. Its the only way I can explain the sensation. I saw a man standing behind me in front of the door. He had a smirk on his face and one eye was more open than the other. He did not look natural. His face was twisted.

I dropped my cup and my stuffed animal, my hands felt funny. Like I couldn't make a fist at all. I panicked and ran to my parents room and climbed into their bed between them. I was shaking and breathing heavy. My mom woke up and tucked me under her arm, but it didn't help. I was afraid to tell her what was happening. I thought she would be mad at me.

She whispered for me to go to sleep, but I could see him in the doorway. Staring at me. I closed my eyes as tight as I could and willed myself to calm down. I took a deep breath and held it and started letting it out slowly. When I finally opened my eyes again he was gone.

I started to fall back asleep and it must have been very shortly afterwards that I woke up again and felt like I was being pulled off the bed. I couldn't move. I wanted to scream but my mouth wouldn't move. The only thing I could move was my eyes. I was frantically looking around me but couldn't see anything. All I could feel was a cold hand around my foot trying to drag me out of the bed. I had the sensation of falling in my stomach.

I concentrated as hard as I could to move a finger, anything. As soon as I was able to move my finger the rest of my body was able to move. I started screaming. To this day I cant recreate that scream. My Dad flew out of bed, and I remember the look of terror on my mothers face and she searched my body to see if I was hurt.

My Grandmother came downstairs because she heard it and held me while I cried. She stayed on my couch with me singing Merle Haggard songs softly. We stayed like that until I fell asleep, long after the sun came up. I couldn't tell her what I saw, but I think she knew. She told me my Grandpa ( he passed away 2 years before that) was watching over me and wouldn't let anyone hurt me ever again.

After that I slept in my parents bedroom for quite a while. Every now and then I would start out in my own bed, but would end up in my parents bedroom by the end of the night. I did this until one night I went to go get into bed with my Mom and Dad and lifted the covers. He was asleep and naked. That sight was something I wish I never saw! HA! I went back to my room and told myself I had to be a big girl. I never went back to their bedroom again.

My sleep paralysis is not a constant thing. It sneaks up on me but I didn't have another sleep paralysis episode for quite a few years after that.

I should mention my living situation at that time. My parents were Managers of a motel in a small town. It had 2 apartments, the 2 bedroom we lived in which was on the ground floor, and the top floor was a 2 bedroom apartment that my Grandma lived in. Attached to that was 12 one floor motel rooms. I don't know who was staying in the motel at the time, but I know we always had at least 6 room occupied at any given time. My Dad was also in the Air Force at the time and would travel 45 minutes away to get to his base. We lived in that small town just outside of Lincoln, NE because that's where both my parents grew up. Shortly after this incident we moved to Bellevue, NE so my father could be closer to the base as the drive was taking a toll on him.

I don't usually like to think about what happened when I was 5. Thinking about it makes me want to cry and I feel literally sick to my stomach.
 Quoting: Brandywine84

Perhaps that's a good indication that you still have emotional energy tied to that experience that you've been harboring and need to release? As daunting and uncomfortable as it may seem - what would happen if you just allowed yourself to cry and let it all out of your system so to speak? You probably just need to go through with that. Writing about things is also a good way to let out your emotions as well, so it's a positive thing that you're re-telling this experience in detail (which enables you to almost re-live it in your mind).

I don't know if it was just my imagination, as children often do think things go bump in the night.
 Quoting: Brandywind84

If it wasn't your imagination - children at that age can be more spiritually/psychically sensitive. The veil is thin for them. If you did see a spirit maybe it was that of someone who previously lived in that residence. Perhaps the image was creepy/unsettling but I would imagine most of the fear you experienced was rooted in the very act of seeing something that appeared paranormal - not just the content itself. I mean even if you had seen a spirit/apparition with a seemingly benevolent appearance - that have been quite startling/unsettling as well - you know?

I had the sensation of falling in my stomach.
 Quoting: Brandywine84

That sensation is commonly reported by individuals who experience OBE's - which happen to be linked to and associated with sleep paralysis episodes...

I did this until one night I went to go get into bed with my Mom and Dad and lifted the covers. He was asleep and naked. That sight was something I wish I never saw! HA! I went back to my room and told myself I had to be a big girl. I never went back to their bedroom again.
