I want to believe in a just creator and that everything happens for a reason, but stories like this make me angry and sad beyond my ability to contain my emotional response. I know it's not on me to judge my creators intent, but why is it the innocent who suffer the most and why do the guilty so often escape justice?

I can't imagine anyone coming to the conclusion that killing a little baby is an option for any reason. Occurrences like this have left me with the conclusion that human beings are evil by nature and regardless of pretense, most do what serves their own interests without consideration of right and wrong. The only thing they consider is whether or not they think they can get away with it

I'm not eager to rush to judgement on this one, I've seen people framed and never exonerated because the criminal justice system (and people in general) are corrupted beyond belief. Could the man have forgotten the little boy? Not likely. But maybe someone wants him out o0f the way.

I hope the little guy didn't suffer whatever happened, and I implore the creator to comfort him in his spiritual ascension.

I know a man is not supposed to cry and I have never been brought to tears over fear or pain, not even as a child. But stories like this are too common and I find my empathetic emotions overwhelming. Like maybe I will just beat the next fucker I see abusing a baby senseless, or maybe even worst. And then you know i would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, because I did the right thing!

I haven't read every post in this thread and this may already be posted, but as many of you know by now, the police took the computer from the house and found that somebody had done an internet search for how long it takes for an animal to die in a hot car.

Somebody please get a rope and find a tall tree and I'll help hoist the rope. A Texas Rope Dance is very much in order here.

Yes, that is an especially horrific & incriminating portion of this whole terrible story. Waiting for them to determine a motive!

I asked this question earlier in the thread: Why did the Daycare NOT CALL the parents asking WHY Cooper did not show up that morning. It seems to me that a simple phone call may have saved his life.

If "Dad" called to let the daycare know the child would not be in I would hate to be the person doing his autopsy after they get all the teeny tiny bits up from the first time that man is let into general population.

Thats what I am struggling to understand. Wouldnt a call to the Daycare saying Cooper was ill or something be incredibly incriminating. I am surprised the news networks havent asked this question yet. Maybe it WAS a 'revenge' crime and Harris doesnt care what happens to him now. He got the outcome he sought: to inflict maximum pain on his wife.

Reported a friend if the family made a remark about they were having problems getting pregnant. Just a thought, maybe he found out he's not the biological father.

I read that the dad was a web designer. Anybody who works in IT in any way knows the police could see on his computer that he did a web search for how long it takes for an animal to die in a hot car. This guy wanted to get caught.

I just read a CNN update on their website. Something stood out in the story. I cannot provide links as I am at the lake: the 'wife' of Harris stated that she stands with her husband and is 'absolutely not angry with him'. The article also stated that they are members of the 'Church of Christ', and the wife also stated that "he is the 'leader' of our family; and I know that if/when we have more children he will be a great father".
This is when I recalled that this particular denomination are firm believers in 'corporal punishment', and I remembered that a father in my community was charged with child abuse for using extreme punishments to 'correct' his children and the wife said the exact same thing re: her husband after he was charged. Weird!! So I just researched: 'Church of Christ child abuse charges' on Google and found instances of the same behavior, wherein the wife stated that it brought 'honor to God' to stand by her husband who had been charged with child abuse for 'correcting' his children'.
My mind went 'hmmmmm'; she (Mrs. Harris) may believe that she is bringing honor to God by standing by her husband. In this case she may have knowledge of her husbands 'disciplinary practises' with respect to their now deceased child and that is why the authorities are also investigating her!!

What if the fathers' discipline resulted in Cooper being harmed/bruised so he attempted to hide the fact by not taking him to Daycare that day as both he and his wife were frightened that Child Services would remove their son from their home! This would explain his 'searches' on the internet re: how long can an animal survive in a hot car; and, why the Daycare didnt call either parent to inquire why Cooper didnt show up, because BOTH parents knew that Cooper would not be attending, and phoned and told the Daycare as much! Lets wait & see where this theory goes.........

Continuing with the above 'train of thought': IF the parents were trying to 'cover' abuse, could both of them be so foolish as to take such a HUGE risk like that with a beloved child? People generally act out of FEAR. What were they so afraid of?? Cooper was still alive in the restaurant where he & his Dad had breakfast, so it wasnt a case of trying to cover up a 'deadly accident. If they were trying to cover abuse wouldnt one of them simply stay home from work. Much safer & easier.
The motive eludes me. She is publicly stating her staunch support for her husband so I do not think it is revenge now.
The motive is not apparent at this point, but I still think that 'last' breakfast together is significant. Again, like the father KNEW he wouldnt be seeing Cooper again; but what could possibly have motivated such a vile crime??

Can't argue with that. I am not a person to seek judgement; but justice is a requirement for a healthy & balanced society. Reduces vigilantism.

From people I've known involved with Church of Christ it is an odd organization. Music is not allowed in the church and from what I understand members are not allowed to socialize with non members.

Also it was odd that the mother stated in the eulogy that "now he won't have to worry about the awkward parts of life like being a teenager" or something to that effect.

Also, church of Christ related another poster mentioned the Mary Winkler case from Tennessee some years back.

This story breaks my heart as the mom of a 17mth old and am 4 months pregnant with #2.

I just did a seach of the mom, Leanna Harris, and found that there's already an online fundraiser started by "Heather." They've raised close to their goal. Read the comments, people are pissed.
