I'm confused.

The flower of this kind of fig tree blooms inside of the fruit which is why it is rare to see the blooms outside, but it is a rare occurrence not an occurrence that only happens once in 3k years.

I always thought that this fruit, because of its unusual bloom and it's parasitic nature as a plant, was used to teach conceptual ideas in Buddhism and not herald events.

I'm surprised the Chinese haven't picked up on the Nostradamus prophecy about July 1999, the same month and year that the persecution of Falun Gong started.

This is a direct connection to the 3000 year prophecy of the Udumbara Flower.

Falun Gong or Falun Dafa literally means "Dharma Wheel Practice" or "Law Wheel Practice."

The Hopi also prophesied Falun Gong, by describing their symbol in their prophecies, the crooked cross, which looks like a Nazi swastika, but it isn't. The Hopi described the Falun Gong practitioners as their friends.

At some point people will wake up to all of this.

The udumbara flower is said in Buddhist legend to bloom only once every 3,000 years, the last time being before the birth of Buddha. Spotted again across the world in the past 20 years or so, some say the udumbara could herald the coming of a great sage or enlightened being.

Udumbara is a word from the ancient Indian language, Sanskrit, meaning “an auspicious flower from heaven.”

According to Buddhist legend, its appearance heralds the arrival of the Holy King Who Turns the Wheel, rectifying the Dharma in the world. This King is said to accept anyone of any religious affiliation, offering salvation to all through compassion.

Volume 8 of the Buddhist scripture “Huilin Phonetics and Interpretation” states: “The udumbara flower is the product of propitious and supernatural phenomena; it is a celestial flower and does not exist in the mundane world. If a Tathagata or the King of the Golden Wheel appears in the human world, this flower will appear due to his great virtue and blessings.”

Not everybody takes an article from Wikipedia as the only and ultimate fact. Obviously what is being described is not a tree blossom, but a tiny flower which bears the same name.

Perhaps one was named for the other in ages long past.

And then there is the matter of Buddhism not being the only or the authoritative spiritual tradition in the East, so what may be a definition in Buddhism is not necessarily universal.

Surely this is not the only incidence of two things bearing similar or identical names?

Looks like some kind of fungi rather than a flower.

When I first saw this posted on the fog thread I thought it was the most important thing I'd ever read. Truly a confirmation for me.

I think it probably is the most important thing for those of us who can read, see and hear. We should not give up, it has been so long, too long to waste.
