Just wanted to clarify real quick.

The dark mass is a plasma filament.

If it releases it's called a "hydra-flare"

And yes, you are correct, it is massive.

I predict it will release when directly facing the Earth.

The sun saw an "M-Class" solar flare this A.M.
...But that isn't what should have us concerned!

CHECK THIS OUT!
[link to www.youtube.com]
Special alert from "Suspicious Observer" 6-03-2014
11:00 A.M. EST
This solar flare filament is
LARGER than the famous one in Sept. 2012--it is over
400,000 miles long at present time (possibly longer!)
So far nothing on "SolarHam"! This could be HUGE!!!

[link to www.solarham.net]
This is a video EXAMPLE of a 2011 earth-facing
"hyder-flare eruption" you may find interesting.
Notable is also following the eruption there is a
"ripple-effect" across the sun showing the power of
these types of flares. (They weigh TONS!)

[link to www.youtube.com]
:FairUSE:
REMEMBER! THIS WAS 2011--our current filament has
NOT yet become a hyder-flare! 12 hr. watch! SK

THE "Uh-Yen" electrical connection to the sun's
expected "Hyder-Flare" WILL AFFECT GULF COAST/FLORIDA WEATHER within the next 72 hours. (As well as potential earthquakes if the "Hyder" is released earth-facing!)
THIS IS A SERIOUS WARNING! Stay tuned to local weather
forcasts!

In addition, We have an interesting potential weather
"event" hinging on a tropical storm off Mexico and a
current 12-18 hr "watch" for a Hyder-Flare release
from the sun (BOTH developing at the same time.)
This warrants a "heads-up" for the Gulf Coast
and central states of the U.S.A. for strange weather
BUT MAY ALSO INTENSIFY SEVERE WEATHER ALREADY FORCAST developing ("Uh-Yen") the next 12-18 hrs and
continuing for this week. (See videos below!)

4 Min. News--Suspicious Observers

[link to www.youtube.com]
First 30 seconds, Ben discusses the Gulf weather and
gives viewers some great weather-map shots.
Then at 3:25 min mark, he mentions "watch for a
mega-flare watch in the next 12 hours" as he
closes the video.

Suspicious Observers puts out a daily 4 Min. News
video which today shows a convergence of a
developing Tropical Storm off the coast of Mexico
with its associated effects on the Gulf and Florida
today and the next few days. Will we see a
"Monster-storm" develop for the Gulf...if we see
a large solar flare? Tropical storms which are
greatly magnified due to solar activity are now
termed "Uh-Yen Candidates" (named after the
scientist who developed the theory.) See his UTUBE
channel for links and videos on this theory.

So...what's up with the sun?

[link to www.youtube.com]
Excellent explanation of what a "Hyder Flare" is
all about! Last big one was Sept 2012--only 100,000
miles long...this NEW FILAMENT is 400,000 miles long
and also has a "companion" possibly making it more
energetic.

Severe storms may depend on what the narrator explains
about "Hyder-flares" in this next video. If a "Hyder-flare" release happens within the next 12 hours from the sun while this Mexico Tropical Storm is developing
--we may see a huge "Up-tick" in the intensity and size of this storm which is already effecting our Gulf Coast weather (See video)!

So....The "Wild Card" in this is a theory about how
smaller tropical storms develop into real "monsters"
with the "electrical help" of solar flares. Theory is called the "UH YEN" Weather phenomenon (more can be found on the theory on Suspicious Observer's UTUBE channel.)

The referenced GLP thread (below) was posted 6-2-2014
--Sk's current thread is focused on the developing
tropical storm in Mexico and the hyder flare's effect on this storm on the Gulf States. However, a release of the
Hyder Flare may also INTENSIFY current weather warnings
in this thread!

I wanted to put this here for any n00bs to these Hyder flares <---like me. It is from a 2010 thread.

[link to spaceweather.com]

Long, bushy filaments like this have been known to grow unstable and erupt, producing a type of spotless flare called a "Hyder flare." If that happens now, Earth would likely feel some effects from the blast because the filament is turning to face our planet. Readers with solar telescopes are encouraged to monitor developments.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 976172

When a large flare suddenly collapses, it may slam into the sun's surface, creating a large explosion called a relatively-rare Hyder flare.

One interesting characteristic of Hyder flares is that they usually develop or rise to maximum brightness much more slowly than do the more common flares associated with active regions. The larger Hyder flares may take 30 to 60 minutes to rise to a peak intensity, and then they may last for several hours. Although they may attain a large area, they usually have a relatively low intensity. Thus, classifications for a large Hyder flare may read 2F, 2N or possibly even 3F. This contrasts to an active region flare in which 3F is very rare. An active region flare that attains sufficient area to put it into the importance class 3, will invariably have either a Normal or more usually a Brilliant brightness classification.

X-ray flares and radio (microwave) bursts associated with the optical Hyder flare, are also generally long lived phenomenon and are classified as the gradual rise and fall type of event (in contrast to the impulsive and complex events associated with large active region flares).

Generally Hyder flares are not associated with energetic particle emission or geomagnetic storms (implying that they may not be associated with a coronal mass ejection). However, this is not always the case, as a large halo CME observed by the LASCO solar coronagraph on board the SOHO spacecraft was most definitely associated with a Hyder flare (2N/M1) observed on 12 September 2000. This same complex also appeared to have produced energetic protons at geosynchronous orbit with energies in excess of 100 MeV, and in substantial numbers at energies of 10 MeV. It is believed that the sudden storm commencement observed at 0450UT 15 September, and the subsequent minor geomagnetic storm was produced by this particular CME.

Anyone want to start speculating?

I will wait until after my first glass of wine (5:30ish EST) before I start boggling my mind with that stuff...

I mean we have to wait to see what the velocity would be, if it lifted off...and I'm not so sure we would even get to the correct data...

After you have been throughly educated on solar d00m + our current cycle + the specific area of space we area in = you live everyday to the fullest :)

^^I SERIOUSLY MEAN THAT^^
