People probably went underground after India had a nuclear incident many thousands of years ago..they found radioactive skeletons in an old city they uncovered...radiation..they were hiding from it.

They seem to have an inability to put two and two together! Remember the animals, both predator and prey found in a cave. What would have scared them all so badly to enter such a cave? HEAT! Lots of heat! The underground is cooler then the surface. And high winds! Now you don't suppose that a pole flip or solar flairs could have driven them underground, do you?

Might be why the super wealthy and government insiders are rumored to have their own secret underground cities.

Old/new...What does it matter?? The whole world is full of old news...To put it in perspective the caves are millennia old...The rocks themselves even older...

The task at hand is more about the need for such an elaborate system...Was it to hide from raiding hordes of bandits or slavers?? Was it a sanctuary from blazing solar flares or nuclear radiation??

Alas no man alive today can say with any certainty the need of such underground labyrinths...

It was stated in the video (for those that didn't bother to watch) that it had sufficient air flow and a fresh non-contaminated water supply, that, by the way, was not exposed to the surface environment...
