No invading army would discover the entrances and seal up the people inside. Are you for real?! "As long as the food would hold out?" How exactly could people underground with no resupply of food hold out against people above ground with full access to the local water, food and resupply? There is NO WAY people below ground could outlast people above ground in a siege situation, the very idea defies logic. But a huge underground bunker system could probably be defended indefinitely so long as the food and water held out. MAkes absolute sence after the First Crusade and the Turks defeat at Antioch they would have known how formidable a Foe Godfrey of Buillon would have been so an elabourate underground network like this might have been thought necessary. OK - so you town has been besieged by an army for a while, you have taken a good toll of them but now they are breaking through the defencess - often towns would have a citadel that some of the pop could hold up in for a while longer - but if you had some nice deep defendable tunnels and caves available - you would retreat into there whatever your chances or food supply. likely the invaders wouldn't even know about it. Much much easier to sit and wait quietly underground, and eke out your grain supplies, than to have to actively defend walls 24/7 - once the tactic worked - it would have been copied and enlarged upon. |

It is waiting to protect the natives today from the next great threat from space or ??? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 36998602 It is very timely as discoveries go. If something does suddenly appear out of nowhere...many people can hide below. Unless the government prevents them from entering. I have often wondered about all the underground places that man made in the past. They must have had a reason. They must have had a fear of something. They must have had a memory and a knowledge of a repeat disaster. It is mind boggling to think how many civilizations have endured the ages and the passage of time. How many destroyed themselves as we are doing or had knowledge of a future event and prepared for the survival of at least some of their people. What an adventure to be able to explore these sanctuaries. they must have known that one day the children of God would join the children of Satan, and go a-warring after their oil and all natural resources, to feed their gluttony, and steal their beach-front property; get everyone on drugs, use their young men for more warring, and feed their daughters to the pimps. Iam quite sure, that if we took the time to look, we could find it somewhere in our own Bible Acts 2:9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 1 Peter 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, |

It was the only religion before the flood, and has nothing to do with the presence of manmade caves except when God has warned mankind how to protect themselves. People have always reacted to the natural forces whether biological or elemental, of the planet, by necessity for survival. It is obvious that before the flood were all sorts of creatures that are extinct today, and evidence that some were genetically created by mankind.
