Maybe I missed something, but how did they provide fresh air down there?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47720765

They had a sophistocated air shaft system that was hidden above.

I have read that the underground cities were used more than once against invaders.

There was a time when humans needed to live underground in order to be protected from the rays above ground, and that time will come to be again in the future.

That`s just one of the many underground structures in Turkey. Check out Cities of the Underworld on youtube. There are some absolutely amazing places underground. This is one of my favourites

For all of you asking about air, its simple.

Look up how Prairie Dogs vent their lairs.

One air shaft low, one higher up...... natural convention vents heat up top and draws cool air from low

I saw these on tv one time, and if I recall these were basically upside-down castles, the way of the population avoided the violence of constant warfare and invaders back when things were as savage as like they will be next century
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56481214

Yup makes sense, cities were sitting ducks in those days for an invading army, not many could survive a prolonged siege against a determined army, especially if the soldiers were counting on the booty and slaves to get rich!

But a huge underground bunker system could probably be defended indefinitely so long as the food and water held out.

For how many decades have they convinced this generation that man even 2000 years was a 'goatherder'? How many times do I see that excuse being used today as to why people will not believe in the Bible or believe that man created the pyramids? What is the consequence of believing that our an satire were stupid goatherders? One will believe that it MIST HAVE BEEN ALIENS.

No invading army would discover the entrances and seal up the people inside. Are you for real?! "As long as the food would hold out?" How exactly could people underground with no resupply of food hold out against people above ground with full access to the local water, food and resupply?

There is NO WAY people below ground could outlast people above ground in a siege situation, the very idea defies logic. Just more BS cover up of this earths advance history and truth.

Mind-boggling, breathtaking, and incredible is the massive ancient underground city discovered beneath a house that was being renovated in Turkey, and is still to this day being further uncovered.

Derinkuyu Underground City is an ancient multi-level underground city in the Derinkuyu district in Nevehir Province, Turkey. It is on the road between Nevehir and Nide, at a distance of 29 km from Nevehir. With its thirteen floors extending to a depth of approximately 85 m, it was large enough to shelter well over 20,000 men, women, and children.

It is the largest excavated underground city in Turkey and is part of a network of several underground complexes found across Cappadocia. It also has individual quarters, shops, communal rooms, tombs, arsenals, livestock, and escape routes. There’s even a school, complete with a study room.

Suppose it was prepared around the last trip of Nibiru? It is waiting to protect the natives today from the next great threat from space or ???

It is very timely as discoveries go. If something does suddenly appear out of nowhere...many people can hide below. Unless the government prevents them from entering.

I have often wondered about all the underground places that man made in the past. They must have had a reason. They must have had a fear of something. They must have had a memory and a knowledge of a repeat disaster.

It is mind boggling to think how many civilizations have endured the ages and the passage of time. How many destroyed themselves as we are doing or had knowledge of a future event and prepared for the survival of at least some of their people.

What an adventure to be able to explore these sanctuaries.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 36998602

OR they did not have the knowledge to build up so they built down? Food for thought
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1731071

With all of the new discoveries maybe scientists have yet to find evidence of animals that caused societies to stay underground

You know, I really have a problem with people like you.

Just because something has been known for some time, it doesn't necessarily mean, every body has to know about it. This is why people are investigating and coming to places like GLP - to gain knowledge.

The world around us is somewhat bigger than the cardboard box you live in.

And just because you knew about this and the little smartass you are happened to be fortunate enough, to find a page of a history magazine in a public trash bin writing about it, which you then used to firstly wipe your ass and consequently thereafter also your mouth with, doesn't make you any kind of an Einstein. I'm sure there are OLD stories out there you haven't heard of - but happy to read about them here.

So now, having said that, how about you move your all knowing, super smart, alive-eating-squid-ass down to the Fukushima site and do something about the mess you fucked up freaks have put us all in and then come back here and present some really heavy breaking news and cleverness?
