If you have a contagious illness, don't get on a plane for crying out loud!!
I'm a flight attendant as some of you know. Yesterday I was working a full flight with almost 200 people. A packed flight. A woman vomitted on me during the boarding process. I'll refrain from giving the gory details, but needless to say, it was all over me. She then tells me she has the flu. I called the captain to voice my concern of allowing her to remain on the flight as she was obviously contagious and he explains to me that we can't remove anyone from a flight for illnesses due to potential lawsuit fears. The people who were sitting next to her eventually decided to get off the airplane to avoid getting ill, and were very upset about the airline not removing her instead.

I agree with the passengers. Here is a woman who goes out in public with no control over her vomitting and believes it is just fine to infect others or just doesn't give a shit about anybody else. She knew she was sick and contagious and if she MUST travel she needs to wear a face mask and warn others withing her contagion zone (3 feet) that she has a contagious illness. I should be home from my trip right now but instead I sit in a hotel room where I have spent the day vomitting my brains out. I'm not getting paid, I'm losing a day off and pretty upset that this is allowed to happen.

With reports of MERS, people must realize that they are NOT protected from being infected while on an airplane. They will not remove the sick passenger due to potential litigation, and if you choose not to sit 6 inches from the sick person don't expect to be quickly rebooked either. You will be rebooked on the next available flight which could be a day or two due to overbooked flights.

I can't give any specifics due to potential disciplinary action from my employer, but the flight was between two international airports. I love my job, I do not, however, have the patience for assholes who knowingly infect others and am pissed that a company is so afraid of a lawsuit that they won't protect their other customers or employees from contagious illness!

Don't go out in public if you are contagious! What's wrong with some people??rant

My husband is a pilot. I keep him updated on the illnesses going around. I would not be opposed to temperature scans. Running a fever, can't fly. People are packed in like cattle. Should scan cruises too, folks always end up sick. Packing folks in tight to squeeze every little bit of profit.

How sick must a grown woman be to not know she would vomit? I understand children, but come on. I would have thrown up too but mine would have been gag reflex, no warning on that.

Thank you! And what I think about, other than the fact that I can't really afford to be sick right now, is all the small children, elderly and people with already compromised immune systems that she infected yesterday. I have a pretty strong immune system and am pretty sick right now.

I totally agree with some way of keeping them off the plane, or at least make them use a medical grade mask. But if someone has uncontrollable vomitting or diahrrhea, they shouldn't be admitted onto any sort of transportation-bus, train, subway, ship ect.
