A human treating another human like this is beyond words. Very graphic and upsetting video is at the link. Quoting: Nine's Video shows a woman living in an adult care facility in Detroit being beaten by a woman who is said to be her caregiver. A coworker at the group home, Strathmoor Manor, says she recorded the video. [link to www.myfoxdetroit.com] wow |

I have 2 theories to offer........either they are just dark human souls given over to evil because that's what they have chosen........or they aren't human at all, they are the spirits of the nephilim inhabiting human bodies. I don't know which one is true, but one of them is. Sad. |

I am a hospice nurse and take much pride in lovingly helping those exiting this earth with kindness and gentle loving compassion. Convalescent homes are to make money. Period. If you have family in care make sure you visit as often as possible (every day if you can), ask questions, make friend with their caregivers. An elderly family member of mine was in rehab for several months. The people that were taking care of her seemed like sweet kids. Unfortunately not everyone in the world is nice. I think businesses like this need to take accountability or do something else for money. It takes a certain kind of nurturing person to take care of people they don't know. |

It does take a certain kind of person to do a good job. One that can put compassion and caring ahead of the money. Bless you for watching out for your family member in rehab. Hard to believe people are capable of treating someone so poorly. In my state, to work with mentally or developmentally disabled, most places requires a background check, fingerprints, and a clean record. Any incident of abuse, neglect, or violating any standards will make sure you don't work with them again. Whether or not it would have helped in this case, we may never know. The owner is "licensed by the state to care for developmentally disabled and mentally ill residents." It doesn't sound like it's a first time event. They've allegedly been cited "numerous" times for repeat violations. Anonymous Coward User ID: 47353221 United States 05/19/2014 12:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It takes training and a special kind of person to maintain patience in such a scenario. And even many of those people eventually burn out from the emotional drain. We used to put these people in large sanitariums. That system had many failings. Now we outsource it, and that system is also vulnerable to abuse. Very sad what happens to the least among us. |

Better than sitting and crying. It would have been horrid to lose her temper and make one hit. Too continue, on and on, with her cringing and crying takes it to a level that's hard to define. Someone not able to tell anyone, no way to get help, just cowering, not understanding, and being hit over and over. Stomach churning and heartbreaking. |

Thank you! It takes a special person to be able to do what you do. Now for the question. I Know you definitely have never and will never do this BUT I've spoken to other hospice nurses and they've told me that it is fairly common. Have you ever heard of a nurse telling the patient in pain, OK Mr. Smith, This is your morphine drip. If you're experiencing any pain just press this button once... Only once Mr. Smith because if you press it 20 - 30 times you'll drift to sleep and die, permanently ending all of your pain. I know I'm making it sound like a joke but it isn't. |
