i am in no way a cat person but that little cat has the heart of a lion. The dog has to be destroyed. I don't like to see anything being mistreated and its possible that the dog has been mistreated to make it act like that but its too far gone for it to be retrained. a dog nipping someone is completely different from it mauling someone which is what it clearly did to the boy. I hope it doesn't put him off animals in the future but who can blame him if it does.

what i found strange is the way the mother just left the boy on the ground and ran. She may have been trying to chase the dog right enough so i suppose that could be it.

Hopefully that very dangerous dog will be PUT DOWN fast and hard

sometimes dogs escape from back yards or slip the leash. its no excuse though if it was a vicious dog and had shown previous aggression then it should be watched at all times. Its very possible that the dog had never shown any sign of aggression before and just snapped or was unwell. some animals are just like humans. you can get good ones and can get horrible bastards that just want to attack everything they see no matter what kind of upbringing they have had.

That dog was an ass and the cat was awesome. I wonder what level of thought process is there for different animals in terms of protecting their owners. Dogs it seems common but this obviously shows a thought process (or some degree of instinct) from the cat which is obviously not common.

I have a hard time convincing my wife that animals don't think like humans and don't have "emotions" as we would think of them or as Hollywood portrays. cool vid

its like the thing that people say about dogs only being able to see in black and white. how do they know? we will never know what animals can see or feel. just treat them with a bit of respect and everything should be fine. some can be aresholes though just like humans and will always be aresholes no matter how much respect you give them.

My dog, a Great Pyrennes, is name Tara. My old outside kitty boxed her face when she got too frisky wanting to play. Funniest thing I ever saw. They really do love each other though. Sleep side by side, etc.

The most fascinating thing about this whole video is that animals can and do protect their own. That cat recognized danger to its human and did what it could to rescue the child. One thing I have noticed with all my years of interaction with my pets(cats, dogs, birds, hamsters, etc.) is that they are really not as dumb and tuned out as some of us think they are. They are very aware. They know. So, don't be cruel.

Ok, it's probably been said already.. sorry I didn't read all the 7 pages... but I thought it odd that the mother took off running and left the kid with the cat protecting it. !
Not that the cat wasn't doing a fine job !!! Praise to the cat ! but it looked like the mother ran off for help leaving the cat to protect the kid.

Common sense should tell you that 1.) in this day and age, parents have one eye always on their child even if he is just a few feet away, and 2.) there was probably an unholy racket going on between the dog, a screaming child and a furious cat. Nothing "funny" about it. No conspiracy here.
