Or is it run down and section 8? Quoting: Renegade () Tell them to move to Indiana, we are very conservative here...any Liberal state sucks. I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |

I left there in 1982 and only went back once. I regretted returning the one time. Seriously, it was such a dangerous and filthy place to grow up that I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. That was in the 70's. I can't imagine how bad it is now. Beg if you have to. Show them my post. Do not go there. PJ |

Escaped. Wouldn't go back there if my life depended on it. Wouldn't go back to the Socialist State of Maryland if my life depended on it. If you wouldn't mind living as a white man in South Africa, then you might not mind living in Baltimore. If you are a socialist or a communist you might actually enjoy the people's paradise. |

Very nice, just be careful because obviously the hoods from the run down area love to go there to make trouble or rob people with money. Last Edited by Gator! on 05/06/2014 08:03 AM |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1302477 United States 05/06/2014 09:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was out in DC with friends once. It was late. We were supposed take the train to go back to Crystal City and we got on the wrong one heading the opposite direction to Baltimore and ended up in the middle of the ghetto just after midnight. No more trains. Some nice brothers saw us come up out of the station and called their friend, a cab driver, to hurry up and come get us. They stayed by us until he got there. It took him less than 5 minutes to pull up and we heard shots fired twice. I'm sure there are some nicer areas, but I wouldn't want to live there. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 49869800 United States 05/06/2014 10:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | All depends on the neighborhood. We moved there in '87 from another state, NE part of town above the old Memorial Stadium. We are white and moved into a predominately black area - 90% black. The only whites left didn't leave with the rest of the white flight back in the late '60s and '70s. I'm sure we were treated much better by our black neighbors than they were treated by the whites when they first moved to the neighborhood. We were there 13 years and though we had a neighborhood covenant agreement (like a homeowners association agreement) to keep properties repaired, the neighborhood continued to deteriorate. Though prohibited by the covenant, section 8 moved in. As welfare, section 8 and drugs moved in, things waxed worse. Anyhow, we were able to get out at a decent time with decent appreciation on our townhouse. However, as I tell the story, the gunfire I hear at my farm in WV is quite a bit different than that I heard in Baltimore. It was a good experience for me and my family. My kids are quite a bit more familiar with black culture than the average white kid. I also learned quite a bit about institutionalized racism, dominant culture vs minority and perceived black inferiority. By the way, the covenant agreement still said Negros had to be out of the neighborhood by 6:00 PM. Though the NE part of the city probably had the lowest crime rate, much of Baltimore is a hell hole. If one had to live there you should go out to the suburbs or in a gated secured area. Some areas have decent security. Nevertheless, I would not move back to a big city like Baltimore by choice. Though on beautiful spring days like today, I miss watching the skirts walk by at the Inner Harbor at lunchtime.... |
