The question is where :) It seems like many areas are active (producing 3+ semi regularly) in the past 30-60days such as Alaska and Chile, and of course Fiji\Solomon islands a while ago.

Do we expect a random strike somewhere unexpected, or just waiting for the pressure to build up & finally slip in these already active areas!

Istanbul , LA ... for the big ones to come yet ?

I actually just began reading on Turkeys seismic history today after a link explaining that scientists were trying to compare New Madrid and its future to the history of the quakes produced on the fault that runs through Turkey - explaining the larger quakes were produced in the 'older' areas of the fault line. Learning new things everyday!

indeed a dangerous fault runs through Turkey and could trigger thousands of deads and a mega huge damage if..

Perhaps this year is what Nostradamus was talking about when he wrote this quatrain?

The new madrid will be the regional "big one". It is long overdue and for the past few years has woken up. Oklahoma where i'm at has gone from me never experiencing an EQ in 18 years to like a month ago setting a record for 20+ in one night.

I've been watching them for years????

Top ten years with most magnitude 7.0 + quakes:

1943 41
1950 39
1949 36
1910 36
1946 35
1909 32
1906 32
1944 31
1968 30
1970 29

No quakes from foreshock - aftershock sequences, only unique individual quakes counted.

Yearly average is 19 based on Centennial Catalogue database(1900 - present).

1943 is still the year with the most 7.0 + quakes ever, with over double the average.

If we start getting 50 or more 7.0 + magnitude quakes a year I might start getting worried, otherwise it's just business as usual on a geologically active planet.

but there has been a massive uptick in smaller quakes, in just this past 17 months or so. a 300% increase from the 'norm' of the past 8 or 9 years or so, in fact. larger quakes not increasing as you say, but WHY are smaller quakes increasing?

I was just researching this and thinking about the Oklahoma earthquake warning. I believe this 3.3 is a fore shock for a much larger quake coming soon. In 1918 the was an 8.2 earthquake in Chile and a 7.2 in Vancouver. That same year there was a significant earthquake in Puerto Rico, Oklahoma and Southern California. You can see an uptick in intensity in these areas immediately after the Chile Earthquake, This years Vancouver earthquake was 10 days from the Chile Earthquake and there has been fairly decent swarms in these areas. If I was in Oklahoma, I would be concerned.

And now a 6.8 in Mexico
