The GLP effect and fishing.
Since becoming a member a week and a half ago, I haven't been able to catch a single fish in 3 trips. I think the GLP effect is a direct consequence of this - somehow, whilst successfully protecting Earth 24/7 from doom, it is inadvertently creating an anti-doom force field around the fish to prevent their own doom.

Without being too specific as to my location, I fish at 'a lake' somewhere in the Milky Way galaxy. Do not be fooled by my IP's location - for all you know I have been ice fishing beneath the cool depths of Europa using an interplanetary UK proxy. Well, alright it is 'a lake' in Northern England to be just a little more specific.

I don't really mind the lack of fish because I like the peace and quiet. I do however need firm reassurances that should I decide to subscribe and gain full membership - that the GLP effect won't go absolutely FUBAR and make the balls hit me in the nuts during an attempt to tee off in my next round of golf.

Peace.

If it where not a weekend I would drive down to the river a catch a springer to prove you wrong..... GLP has no effect on fishing. Trust me.

I am somewhat inclined to agree with you - I think I just need a better fishing rod.

...and two bears. Yes, definitely not the GLP effect. If I take a new rod and two Kodiaks fishing on Sunday there will be definitely be fish caught.

You will not catch any fish the next time you go fishing.

There, I hope that helps you. :)

Oh I shall.

I forgot to mention I need to go to Specsavers. I can't see a bloody thing on the lake. Yep, with a nice pair of specs, a new fishing rod and two Kodiak bears there will be fish. Oh yes. Enough to feed 5000!

I will take many beers though, that was a very nice idea.

Sunday will be an extraordinary day in the history of GLP. I will prove that there is absolutely NO connection between fish (or lack there of when indeed fishing) and the GLP effect.

...AND A CAT!

Yes brand new specs, a better fishing rod, two Kodiak bears and a cat.

I might as well start my own fishing industry.

I have to go now. I appreciate the replies and even the 1 star was definitely well deserved in retrospect, very silly thread but oh well I guess I was just bored. You guys are awesome I love this website.

Have a good day all and may the force be eternally strong in the GLP effect!

Thank you, and the same to you. :)

As a general update and an addendum to this thread: I may be back later with proof once and for all as to whether or not there is a cosmological link between the GLP effect and fish.

Re: The GLP effect and fishing.
***IMPORTANT UPDATE***

Sadly, I didn't go fishing today like I had planned; however I did find an alternative way of proving beyond any reasonable doubt that there in fact was no cosmological link between the GLP effect and fish.

My goldfish Jerry needed to have his (or her) bowl water changed. I successfully managed to capture him (or her) with a small net, placed him (or her) in a temporary tank, cleaned his (or her) bowl, captured him (or her) once again and then replaced him (or her) successfully back into his (or her) bowl.

This proves that there in fact is no GLP effect force field protecting fish - since I successfully captured and then re-captured Jerry.

QED.

Thank you WhyD lol - and well, I liked 'Brave Sir Tim' but to be honest, I have been using hiding rather a lot and since I had originally made my name as a homage to 'Tim the Enchanter' from Monty Python and the Holy Grail it was quite befitting to be Sir Tim the-not-quite-so-brave-as-sir-launcelot hehe.

I won't go fishing next time then in order to undoom myself; but I will go fishing the time after that...and there will be plenty of fish provided I take my specs, new rod, two Kodiaks and a cat.

Bass are very difficult to catch. Especially when a drought takes their damn cover away! Just gotta fish open water here in California.

There must be some good fishing in California, despite the recent drought conditions. Plus the weather is much nicer there than it is here which is an added bonus. It's the start of Spring but still very nippy out here. Brrrrr.
