The little hummingbirds are all fluffed up trying to keep warm. It's bitterly cold outside. I hope they make it through this.

I love the lil hummingbirds

I do too. It just takes so damn many to make stew though.

ICE AGE Bitches!
It's here. The Sun is down on power .
Sunspots are what makes our sun a bubbling cauldron.
Now it's turning into an ember.
If you're above 40 degrees latitude you'll have to move in 3-5 years.

Re: April snow in Alabama
We'd have a couple inches here in Kentucky if it wasnt melting...

But we got 1/4th inch lingering around and its been coming down hard
 Quoting: Dr. Acula

In Ky too.
Still a bit of snow in spots here.I have pear trees and the limbs were sagging a lot. This was one heavy snow.I am very glad it didn't snow a lot because everything with leaves would have broke. It packed together like a rock. The steps probably had half an inch and I couldn't sweep it off because it was packed so tightly and very heavy. Now saying we will hit the low 20s tonight and maybe even teens in places. So anything thats growing that isn't protected will be history.

Re: April snow in Alabama
Global warming of the atmosphere (WHETHER CAUSED BY THE SUN, INTERGALACTIC FLUFF, C02, OR ALL OF THE ABOVE [probably]) is destabilizing the climate we are 'used to', by causing disruptions in the jet stream and also the containment of arctic air to the northern latitudes. This will be happening more and more along with other exacerbated fluctuations (rain, dry, heat). Welcome to the new erratic normal.

My Christmas cactus are flowering for a second time this year.
 Quoting: Chrit

OMGosh. Mine too. First time since I grew them years ago. Wow. Must be celebrating the resurrection, eh?

(Started mine from one strip of cactus that was on Home Depot's garden store's floor. Now I have 4 pots from that. Yes. I asked them if I could have it. ha.)
 Quoting: Ms. Superduper

I never seen them flower twice in a year or flower this late either, maybe they know something we don't.

My magnolia tree usually has flowered by now also and it does not even have any buds yet.

Going to be a weird year at this rate.
I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw.

We must all realize a sink a chair and a pillow are all luxuries of home and a soldiers helmet takes the place of all three.

Tennessee valley here hi

Snowing pretty hard for the last couple of hours, but 84 degrees two days ago.

Back in the early 80's (1983?? maybe) we were hit with 18" of snow on April 19.

I put sheets over them- I have a lot so hopefully at least some will make it. Didn't want to use a blanket because I was afraid it might get too heavy and break the stems. Crossing my fingers!!
