The dowser used a forked wicker twig and was holding the two ends in his hands, the middle bit pointing upright. When he came across a water vein the upright end would strongly pull down. It worked the same for me son, he said the pull downward was really strong, he even tried to hold against it. "He who people call a fool is not a fool, but he who takes flattery for Truth, is." |

It feels quite different when something is positive versus negative. I pick up emotion from other people easily or "feel" things about certain areas, places or "events". But I have never tried to feel things to dowse for. I just know that the dowsing the way it was done today don't seem to work for me. I am out in the country and there are two wells on the property. But there is an underground river in my location, so digging a well is never an issue. Still worth some testing. Think of the sun! :sun: |

I have read that the L shaped version people use to get directions where to go if the visualize the thing they are looking for. I like the Y shape wooden version, even if it doesn't work for me Oh the irony! There I am, "knowing" dowsing does work and I am not able to get the fork to twitch. An then my son, the great doubter, has the "natural" gift. It surely set him thinking that there is more than scientific documented things. I am happy for him that he can widen his horizon now :) "He who people call a fool is not a fool, but he who takes flattery for Truth, is." |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 55894953 United States 04/15/2014 07:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My greatgrand father was a water witch. He used a peach branch. He was called on by people from miles around to find well sites. I have a few cousins that can do this and they also use branches. However My mate can also do this and he uses two metal wires. He can dowes for more than water. He and several of his cousins that can also do this used to work for a company that put in fiber-optic cable. He can find power lines, gas lines, sewer lines, water and water lines and a few other things. I ask him how he does it and he tells me he does not know , he just does it. He is not a very talkative man. But all growing up I thought one could only dows water, until I saw my mate find all kinds of stuff. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 55894953 I didnt find yet how to distinguish what the finding is. I did read that it could depend on where you hold the fork, nearer to the end or more up to the tip of the Y. "He who people call a fool is not a fool, but he who takes flattery for Truth, is." |

It can't get him to articulate an explanation. |
