im not sure whats happening.....

but there have been NO storms....
or lightning in the bay!!!

and gisborn is 3 hours away....there all out to!!

South Island here.. No powers cuts here. The time here is 5pm Thursday (just for reference)

They say lightning doesn't strike twice but power authorities say a storm has delivered an "unusual" double hit to the national grid, taking out power throughout Hawke's Bay.

Transpower says 80,000 customers throughout Hawke's Bay are affected in the power cut that struck at 4pm today, which has also affected traffic lights, Hawkes' Bay Hospital and phones.

Power authorities are racing to restore power after thousands were off the grid.

Transpower said about 5pm: "Power is currently being restored. Given the area affected, however, this could take up to one hour for all power to be restored to the area."

"apparently Hawkes Bay's power is out due to lightening strikes. Ours was out last night but not for too long."
