To do it properly would require sacrificing the rest of the night though. Fortunately the weather looks like it will be amazing tonight, so I'm not *that* tempted. I'd much rather do something constructive like take gorgeous pictures of space. |

I remember driving cross country one summer back in 1997 and being utterly amazed in the middle of the arizona desert at the night sky. You should pay Chiefland Astronomy Village a visit sometime up near Ocala. It's not quite Arizona level darkness, but it's quite good as Florida goes. |

I used to go out to Paynes Prairie when I lived in Gainesville in the late 90s. That's where I would go see the Hale-Bopp comet. If only I had then what I have now! Hale-Bopp was awesome..I remember that crazy fucker Applegate stole all the glory from Hale-Bopp. The closest I can get was when I was a kid and slept on deck of our sloop off the east coast, in quiet coves, just to see the stars. One night my father stirred the water with a mop off the side and told us all to come look. The water sparkled and he said a star had fallen into the ocean (it was a school of traveling jellyfish). Just magical. Never forget that ever! |

B)I need it to stand out so that I can easily and quickly reference my own posts when I'm fast scrolling through old threads to find some nugget of info I previously generated. It therefore needs to be as obnoxious as possible so that it stands out while I'm scrolling at 100mph. C)See A) Last Edited by Astromut on 04/02/2014 11:21 PM |
