I think the problem is because of people from other countries displaying their flags, not necessarily that it's an American flag. If flags are allowed, they won't be just American.
Would you be offended by a Mexican flag hanging at your neighbors house?
Quoting: nah™ They want to move here and then demand it be like their home country. That is why they get offended by someone hanging an American flag in America near them. I don't think foreigners have a problem with American flags, I think American's have a problem with foreigners displaying flags from their home country and this rule is a way to keep the peace. Sorry, this pisses me the fuck off. So the few hundred patriotic American citizens that live there have to give up something they hold dear in order to not offend maybe a half dozen foreigners who are here voluntarily?! No, I think the problem stems with people from foreign countries displaying their flags and American's being offended by it. I think most people are offended by foreign flags on American soil. There could have been some Mexican flag or Middle Eastern flag up and someone could have complained about it and instead of it becoming a racial thing, everyone has to take their flags down.
