Calling all Patriots! Woman faces eviction threats over Flag
Yet another company that is telling someone they can't hang an American flag. Let's flood this companies email and voicemail!

La Vista, NE - For two years, red, white and blue has waved in the wind outside Amanda Busch's door.

She said her American flag was never an issue, until two weeks ago. "They said other people could be offended by it and that's why we can't have one."

Busch lives at the Pointe Apartments. She received a notice stating flags and sun shades cannot be attached or displayed to her balcony. "We should be able to be proud of where we live. Be able to support our troops by putting up a flag."

Busch feels her rights were violated when she was faced with a tough decision. Take down the flag or be evicted; the flag now hides in a garage.

In Nebraska? the heartland of this country is or was better than this. I may need a break from the damn news for awhile, it's disheartening.

Offended by someone displaying a flag of the country they live, maybe you are living in the wrong place. These people need to shut the fuck up and go home.

The story is just now making the news around here. It won't be long before she is able to display her flag proudly once more.

My street for example usually is entirely lined by flags. It's been pretty cold and gloomy lately, but yesterday and today are really nice. A few (including me) had our flags out already, but there's a group walking around mentioning the story. EVERYONE is putting their flags out in support.

On a side note, I literally just heard this 30 minutes ago and the story is already here on GLP. Impressive :)

My neighbor across the street is a WWII veteran and all around great guy. When I told him this story (he already had his flag out) he, in all seriousness said, "It seems that if you want to keep those people out who are offended by the flag, the best way to do it is for everyone to fly theirs" :)

Good advice. Everyone have their flags flying today?

Give your neighbor a handshake from me. I live here where the story is from. I'm outraged. I can't believe it's happening here of all places. Omaha is a military community. The sheer fact that a rental company would do this here makes my blood boil. My father is a vet. And I am PROUD to fly my flag high!

Howdy neighbor! Yeah, La Vista of all places. They've always been sort of the place to go to get stuff that Omaha doesn't sell lol. I wonder what Cabela's thinks of this?

I am a member of NFOA and posted this on the forum. I see the news article is getting many supportive comments too. She'll get her flag back.

I think the problem is because of people from other countries displaying their flags, not necessarily that it's an American flag. If flags are allowed, they won't be just American.

Would you be offended by a Mexican flag hanging at your neighbors house?

No, I think the problem stems with people from foreign countries displaying their flags and American's being offended by it. I think most people are offended by foreign flags on American soil. There could have been some Mexican flag or Middle Eastern flag up and someone could have complained about it and instead of it becoming a racial thing, everyone has to take their flags down.

i have a flag that flies 24 hrs a day and thousands can see it as it sits up high enough on a main 2 lane road through south King County in WA state. with that said...if she signed a lease/rental agreement and it was in there that NO flags are to be flown in that way...then she's bound by those bylaws...like it or not. it's much like the bozos that move into neighborhoods with covenants that get all pissy and butthurt when they're breaking the rules that they agreed to AND signed to go by and get called out on it. i guess if we have to excuse ignorance and stupidity in this case and others...we'll have to excuse all the stupid ignorant fucks that voted for Obammy...TWICE. plenty of those types on this very site.

people that want to fly an American flag or their freak flag need to read what they're signing and/or stop moving into these apartment prisons and covenant covered neighborhoods. argue for her all you want...but if YOU have someone sign an agreement with you...i'll bet you'll want to hold em to everything in said signed agreement.

I know that periodically the management in a mobilehome park we lived in would send amendments to us via registered mail to be signed. the thing was that just because you didn't sign it didn't mean you didn't have to go by it when it went into place. many times there are so many things that we the reader are not always privy to so as to make a completely informed decision. if she's in the right though...fly an even bigger flag and contact all television and radio stations in the area to garner more help in her case. regardless of what her place is tryin to pull...they're still waaay more people that would side with her flag flyin pursuit.

Its not under new management, this is just a case of a company changing policies. Its all a matter of a company trying to be "PC" and its a bit over the top. I don't care what kind of flag they think others may be flying. The american flag is not offensive. How many immigrants do we have to the US each and every year? They come here for solace, for peace, because they weren't free in their country, because they were oppressed, frightened, or "bullied. They come here because they cant live in their country anymore. They come here because we accept them. But this is and will always be The United States of America, and we have a flag. It is our flag. They came here, we didn't force them. This is THEIR country now. They should have a sense of pride in that. And if they are illegal... then they have no place complaining. I'm not just talking about Mexicans, its anyone, from any country that comes here and complains about this countries flag. Its ours. Its our sense of pride. It shows how we support our troops, it tells a history, for each stripe, for each star. Its our history.

Although the Pointe apartments refused to comment, Action 3 News acquired the notice sent to Busch and other tenants. It states: plants, wind chimes, rugs, sun shades or other decorations cannot be displayed on balconies.

Its our history.

you're preachin to the choir here. make sure to go to your next town/cit council meeting and voice it there. contact television and radio stations to garner support for her. absolutely nothin will be done about it here. it won't be the first flag wavin ban thread that sinks to the back pages of GLP history.

Re: Calling all Patriots! Woman faces eviction threats over Flag
while flag wasn't specifically worded ...they'll use the decoration part to uphold it. if she doesn't have a decent lawyer or have a big part of the community behind her...she'll take it down or be moving. hopefully if and when she moves...she'll read everything in any move in agreement next time.

Although the Pointe apartments refused to comment, Action 3 News acquired the notice sent to Busch and other tenants. It states: plants, wind chimes, rugs, sun shades or other decorations cannot be displayed on balconies.

Naw, I'm not going to let society pin this back on her. The outcry is just beginning.

Re: Calling all Patriots! Woman faces eviction threats over Flag
I think the problem is because of people from other countries displaying their flags, not necessarily that it's an American flag. If flags are allowed, they won't be just American.

Would you be offended by a Mexican flag hanging at your neighbors house?

They want to move here and then demand it be like their home country. That is why they get offended by someone hanging an American flag in America near them.

I don't think foreigners have a problem with American flags, I think American's have a problem with foreigners displaying flags from their home country and this rule is a way to keep the peace.

really...this is not to far from the truth. there are some predominately latino apartments not to far from me. if they all started flyin flags from Mexico or the other half dozen countries that they're from...whitey would shit bricks.

Exactly, it was most likely an American patriot that complained (about a foreign flag) and ruined it for everyone.
When you find a piece of shit along side the road and you poke it with a stick, what do you expect to find inside of it, gold?
No, it's just going to stink more.
