Re: I saw an angel today...
She was standing behind me, when I was at a café. I was sitting on the inside with a friend, somewhen later while talking, I was turning around, like someone turns around if you stare him at the neck... then this woman was just standing there, standing right towards me and just looking at me and smiling...
Then later as I went out to leave another woman looked at me that way. And my friend was telling me that a third was watchin me from the right side while we were talking, as I told her, how everybody looks at me today with such a smile.

Now 6 hours it hit me on the forehead.
I just felt it.
I see the scene right in front of my eyes when I think about it and I something in those eyes, I cannot even describe.

Been a while since they were showing themselves so sirectly.

And just today in the morning before all of this, I´ve remembered one of my favourite aphorisms..

Re: I saw an angel today...
Listen...a quick summary. My older son was diagnosed at an early age of being mildly autistic. At a very young age he bolted out the front door. Many minutes were spent looking for him as we lived near a major highway. Lo and behold, here he is hand-in-hand with an older man with a beard walking to our house. I thanked the gentleman and started to tell my son that what he did was wrong. Not 7 steps or 7 seconds passed when I turned around to see the man had vanished...impossible. No way. Angels do exist. Deal with it !!!bump

Thanks to my wife that will be one less one less hurdle in his life. That day in Broken Arrow, OK, I will never forget.
The guy was there...and I turned around and he was gone. 15 years later and I can recall every detail.

Re: I saw an angel today...
I have had several. I count myself lucky to recognize them for what they are.

One of the more 'concrete' experiences happened in Las Vegas.

We were in the foodcourt / mall area under the MGM Grand. My husband had gone off to the restroom and I was standing outside near a trashcan & bench, which also happened to be near a map of the tunnel system.

While I was standing there, I was looking at the art, at the map, at whatever, and also sort of 'keeping an eye out' even though, me being fairly naive in those days, didn't expect anything to happen.

Anyways, as I was looking off to the left, opposite of the restroom area, I decided to turn around, except I spun on my heel impossibly fast -- as if I were on a turntable -- and just as I spun around, I saw this guy glide right past me, very, very close and then he walked up to the map and just stood there, looking at it. For minutes and minutes. Maybe even 10 minutes (my husband was gone for awhile).

I recognized him (immediately) from earlier when he had been standing across the food court near another table talking to some other guy. I knew he had seen me digging through my purse.

I knew at that moment that someone/something spun me around so that he couldn't snag my purse. I stood there then, and stared holes in his back while he pretended to look at the map. Eventually he got very uncomfortable and moved on. Then about a minute later, my husband came out of the bacthroom and the rest of the day was fine.

I knew it was my guardian angel. And I thanked him/her. And I am thanking him/her again today. Because that trip was really lousy and if the purse snagging thing had happened, I suspect that a lousy trip would have turned into a painful disaster.

Re: I saw an angel today...
I took a hard swerve in my car yesterday because my body reacted to what I thought was a large object on my right come up and match speed and move closer and it happened so fast my brain couldn't stop the body instinct to steer and I almost swerved too hard, but it seemed like a gigantic bunch of lit ropes...out of my peripheral vision...

At the time I just chalked it up to light between the trees hitting my eyes at a weird angle but now I'm not so sure, recalling it now it definitely seemed like a presence trying to come from behind and match speed...

Curious thread!

Re: I saw an angel today...
Had a few angel experiences . . .

Years ago I went to a meditation class, there were about twenty of us all sat in a horseshoe shape around the teacher in the middle. We would mediate for 30 minutes then go round the room to share anything that might have come up for us.

After the mediation ended the first person said, 'I saw an angel she came in from the right side and stood before me' ... the teacher said 'I don't believe in angels', the room went very quiet then someone else said 'I saw the angel also', then another and another, till everyone in the room was laughing, we all saw the angel except her, the angel stood before each of us, showing us something for our own personal growth.

And thank you for posting the thread, another good one that day . . .

One of the guys I met at lunch said that when he decided to become a spiritual minister he went out to find a suit, so that he would look smart as he was doing Gods work, he spent the whole day trying different ones on but he found nothing that fit, he was walking home feeling a bit sad that he hadn't found anything when he heard a huge screech as a car came hammering round the corner and pulled in beside him, a guy got out and said 'do you want to buy a suit'? he was so shocked and said 'yes', the guy walked to the back of the car opened the boot and pulled out a suit, he tried the jacket on and it fitted perfectly, held the trousers up to himself and they just needed to be turned up. He paid the guy a very reasonable amount, then the guy drove off. When he got home, he tried the suit on and said he still just couldn't believe it, then he opened the jacket and on the inside breast pocket, stitched in gold thread it said 'Gabriel'. You could tell as he related the experience that he still found it hard to believe. He opened his jacket and showed us.

It didn't click at the time for me who he was until I just wrote this out! That's made me laugh! omg! One of the most beautiful souls I ever did meet!

I first had to laugh about this story... this is exactly how it goes. Those absurd scenes of some movies, in a way they describe it perfectly.

I had goosebumps again as I red "Gabriel"...
Because, I thought I had written it in my initial post, it later came clear to me, that it was Gabriel that day.

Thank you.

Thank you Bettydavis eyes for this verse:

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

~ Hebrews 13:2

It exactly what my mom and I thought of after we took my mother-in-law to the train. Were we in the presence of an Angel?

Her train was scheduled to depart after midnight out of Needles, CA in January. It was so cold out and this particular station is a mere outdoor outpost in a dusty desert town. Most people waiting were prepared with heavy coats, hats and even wrapped in blankets.

The train was hours delayed. We encountered a man from Mexico returning home after Christmas, he said. He was cheery, friendly, animated, upbeat and positive in spite of this huge delay. Hardly anyone responded to him though. I noticed that he was not that bundled up.

Most people waiting were constantly on their cell phones, attempting to contact Amtrak. All we got was the standard recording. This guy makes his call and gets through first try. He gets the low down that the train had hit a cow and the train was being repaired. So the moms and me decide to go sit in a heated car for a while.

As we are walking off he calls out to us, while pulling out of his bag, coat, and sweaters, and says, "I have a brand new hoodie for your mom!" That cracked me up! We were too shy but thanked him anyway.

He left such a positive feeling. Every time he called Amtrak he got right through, no one else did. Angel or no? All I know is he left a lasting impression on us, in a good way.

Re: I saw an angel today...
I talked to one, but this was back in 1946 or so. I was starving and in rags, pulling my only posession, a red sled behind me in the middle of the winter, freezing and living in either the chicken coop or the little unheated cabin, not sure, but life was shit back then being an orphan, living with the town drunk whom kidnapped us brothers from our mother in CA. He was gone for weeks at a time and we would have nothing to eat. We watch other kids eat at school or go into warm homes to have warm food, this would cause great pain for my brother and I.

I just painted my life which was more than told here so you can understand why I feel only an angel could have asked the question of me that day she did.

I was walking down the street near bitties home, an WW1 vet whom had no toes due to trench foot he got in Europe. It was rumored he bit off his toes when they rotted while living in the trenches during the war, not the good side of town. Anyhow, suddenly and from nowhere my progress was blocked by this woman standing in front of me. She was in brown shoes, long gray trench coat and I looked up at her, wondering whom she was and what she wanted.

There was no smile, only concern on her face as she looked down at me and asked. "Are you angry that you are so poor and have nothing like other kids have"? My answer surprises me today, "no, I am lucky because I am learning faster than all the other kids". I then continued on my way, cold and miserable and starving, but yet knowing how lucky I truly was.

I thought I would share this just for the hell of it. Some say I should write my life down, but going back digs up so much pain I avoid it, yet lessons can be shared. I am today thankful for everything in my life and that simple question that day resonates yet today within me.

Re: I saw an angel today...
I may have shared this somewhere. But when I was young in the 40's, I was without warm cloths, filthy and unwashed walking down a street. I lived in the poorest area and was beneath even the poor, actually starving to death in mid winter.

My only possession, a red sled I pulled around all the time behind me, I stopped as a tall woman in gray coat suddenly stood in front of me. She looked down at me and asked, "are you angry that you are poorer than all the other children, you have nothing".

I know this sounds cruel, but it opened me up. I answered "no, I am luckier than all the other kids because I am learning faster than they are". She was gone then, I truly don't remember her going, just gone and I knew by sight most everyone in the area of a small mid western town.

Re: I saw an angel today...
I've had two or more angel experiences.

here's my most recent ( at least I believe so)

One morning on my way to work, I stopped at a red light on a major four lane highway. It's a four way stop, and is known for speeders. I reached down to turn the heater up and I heard this strange sound. As I looked up, I at first thought two cars were spinning. Then I=realized that one very large van had been hit by a speeding car and it was rolling right towards me. I had no time to think about life, or death, or my kids, or obligations as the other car that had caused the wreck sped towards me next without even braking at all. As suddenly as it all happened the car stopped without ever hitting it's brakes inches from my bumper, I watched in amazement as the rolling one did the same. I backed up my truck because they were both so close I could not determine if any damage had been caused. I called 9-11, as I did I could hear the woman in the van screaming. When I got out of my car, it was nuts.

I noticed a woman all in yellow with a conductors cap on. She was standing next to the van and it was apparent she was on an emergency call as well. This I found puzzling, I tried to scream that I'd called them but she could not hear me. My sis was an emergency operator, and I know they usually tell people another call had been made. The van was smashed very badly and I was worried about the woman who was trapped inside.

The cops came up to insure I was okay and if I had seen anything, just as I tried to make sense of what happened a young woman appeared and said she had witnessed the entire thing. I turned around and began to thank her and realized instantly something odd about her. Her hair and makeup was right out of 1984, and she was wearing yellow. Despite her strange fashion sense, I felt immediately comfortable with her. As we spoke she calmed me down, and began to tell me about all of the bad accidents she had witnessed. I found it odd that almost all of them were of this magnitude. The police officer finally came and got her statement. We shook hands and I told her to be safe as you go about doing what you should.

She smiled and said you too.. and that was it. The odd thing is, I have a really clear memory of the entire thing after the crash happened, all these months later.

I get the odd feeling that I was saved that day, for what ever reason. I guess there are some that would say it
just was not my time but that's partially true. I am one of those that believes sometimes we are just in the wrong place at the wrong time. In that instant, I surely was.

or maybe I'm just an angel myself.. ;)

Re: I saw an angel today...
Awesome story! I have a similar experience to share. A few weeks ago, my uncle and I went out to take his dogs for a walk in the woods.

Back in the woods there is a fair size pond that a few kids were skating on. I brought along my skates stick and a puck to practice for a bit while the dogs wandered around. I'm 28 years old and have played hockey 5-6 nights a week in the past and have made many friends as a result.

To cut to the point, a young buck only 15 years of age at the most who I had never seen, skated up to me like he knew me and said, "Hey are you Zig"? my nickname all my life! I replied, "Yes, I am. How the hell do you know me?" He replied that, "he was a neighbor of Kevin McHenry, and that he was going to call you (ME) today to see if you would come to the pond to play pick up hockey with us."

My jaw dropped in disbelief. I had played hockey with Kevin for many years, however I ONLY knew him from the rink. I had never hung out with or saw him outside of hockey and we had NEVER exchanged contact information in the past. On top of this was the fact that I had not played hockey with or had seen Kevin in 6 years. Therefore there would be no possible way that, A.) This boy nor Kevin would have any means of contacting me or be able to attempt to contact me to come play hockey on a remote pond back in the woods, B.)To know who I was without any indication of my name. (IE a hockey jersey with my last name on it.) I told the young kid that I was shocked at the fact he knew who i was and he just smiled. I said to him ,"Tell Kevin I was asking for him, and you keep practicing." I punched gloves with him and he skated off to the rest of the kids who were playing.

I turned around and looked at my uncle who had just witnessed everything and said to him, "What the fuck just happened?" He replies, "That was weird dude, Ive never seen anything like that happen."

After that, all I could think about was that quote in the bible, "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels unaware.

These stories are great! I could read them all night.

I hope more people will share their experiences.

I only know that I was tested at one point in my life. A total stranger needed my help out of nowhere and I hadn't the slightest doubt I was being tested. So, I did my best.

Just saw the new posts here..

Thank you everyone for sharing your wonderful experiences with us. It is truly beautiful and makes me ponder..

I just remembered while reading other encounters in my life that seemed so random..
I remember them, because I recall a certain feeling I experienced with those.
Humility would be something that comes close to describe it, I guess.

And even if it wasn't an angel, what greater compliment could you make to someone, than seeing the angel inside of him.
