I think Mar Fifteen was a date, to catch everyone's attention here, since everyone loves dates. Every day this forum has several threads with date predictions. Pretty much all of them fail, but that hasn't stopped them from coming, and people commenting and pinning them and feeding the spawning of more of them. Want to get the attention of a conspiracy theorist or doom/gloomer? Just give a date.

So it had to be a date. With a countdown. That was intended to hook you, and it worked!

Then the date passed but that happens all the time here too. People make a prediction, date passes, they blame "shifted timelines" or what not, and speculation continues. Look at the Me Tel U thread. How many years has that been going on?

Now I want to know why nobody has really responded to my post earlier saying I had put the code into this cracker site:

... and with "rickrolled" as the clue, I got "pinspotter." There is a PIN on the map. This is a pretty bizarre coincidence, if that is what it is. Try other clues -- eagle, key, whatever -- see what I mean.

I did not mean this as a joke, so maybe it was dismissed as one. If it wasn't, if you also went and tried this and got the same thing, but didn't remark about it, ask yourself if you dismissed it out of hand because that's not what you wanted to find. You wanted to BELIEVE this was something more. Not a troll playing with us.

Okay now I am seeing the Latest Update but still... why didn't "rickrolled" and "rickastley" make it into the list of keys in the original post?

I'm not entirely disappointed if this is the case. I admit, I actually had fun working on this. I chatted with some people I've never chatted with before and I learned a lot.

It goes to show that people from all walks of life can and will come together to figure out a problem, together.

Turns out, this may be the "key" after all...

That's not the lesson to take away here, as sweet as it is.

The lesson here is that we are all vulnerable to suggestibility, and that marketing people, politicians, psychics, religious leaders, etc... can very easily take advantage of that fact. We want to believe what we want to believe, and our brains will go to great lengths to convince us what we want to believe.

I agree with you, we see what we want to see. When we can't see it, we go looking for it.

I'm not sure what really matters most though...that we look for something that doesn't even exist? Or that we accept what we know and are told.

In this case, I believe everyone had at least some degree of skepticism, but worked diligently none the less. In essence, the code was broken...it's just that the result was disappointing. But, you make a valid point

Uhhh... I am not sure this was hoax yet. That trailer from Utube is obviously not real, but does go along with the earlier message the site was saying about prepare etc.

Yes the site may be tied to viral marketing companies, but I still fail to see what is being marketed.

Maybe the utube vid is a clue to puzzle?

In any case, a few parting points:

I'm impressed at how folks came together and really worked as a team to try to solve this. I'm particularly impressed with SPCBTTLZ and LUCY, whomever you are. Both of you seem very sharp and very polite.

I'm disappointed that it's bullshit, but glad it's not something ominous. I wrote my dissertation on marketing, and it's just one more example of the desparate lengths a marketer will go through to get attention. In lectures I've given since, I've called it "advertising terrorism." It's extreme, unnecessary, and absurd... just like "real" terrorism.

And... yes, as I suspected, Red was full of some cray cray shit.

Oh, no. Not another code!!

The guy (Arthur Weaver, handle trutv79) drives viewers to YouTube videos. What better way to do that than by making a creepy site, having people go to it all the time, then when you've got enough people or your gig is up (like in this case with finding out it was Swenzy or whatever), change so it loads the YouTube video. Instant view, I think... I don't know that Youtube requires you to load/view the video to increase its views.

I don't want to let go either, but it really does seem like a load of crap.

If you read DoomPorn's link, they market marketing. Yep. They used viral marketing to promote their specialty: viral marketing.
