One of Fred's estranged sons is in one of my social circles and the stories he has told us about his childhood are truly terrible.

My thoughts are with him today. He was not allowed to seek any closure by the family.

For years he has listened to hate, from his father, toward his father. I saw an interview he did where the interviewer kept saying things like, 'Well, at least he'll die soon. Maybe he'll die soon, the world will be better when he dies. I hope he dies soon.'

I don't know that he has any love for his father, but I can't imagine how confusing today must be for him.

Any reports of Fred being a pederphile??

Does this mean that we can all get together and picket his funeral? Basically holding up signs much like the ones that he had his church hold up during military funerals?
If so, I would so like to be in the ranks or on the side line so that his followers could get a taste of what they have been doing to others.

Fred Phelps, founder of the infamous Westboro Church and a Democrat who occasionally ran for office in Kansas, died Thursday at the age of 84. Phelps earned infamy protesting against gays and Jews, and at military funerals. The Democrat's followers would carry signs that claimed God hated his targets, and that the soldiers deserved to die.

His funeral may not even happen (at least not one that will be publicized). He was excommunicated from the church (read: kicked out) in August of last year after asking his 'flock' to have more kindness in dealings between members.

Most of that 'flock' that excommunicated him were family members of his, which means that he really may not have a real funeral anyway.

Have they scheduled a protest at his funeral yet? :-)
