Treatment of fellow beings
I have heard it always said, and have personally observed and confirmed, that as a man treats his mother, so he treats his wife.

This is true......it plays out nearly every single time.

What if we took it a step further, and observed that as a man (or woman) treats its animal, so it will treat human-kind.

Thoughts?

In my experience, this is true. My SO treats his mother VERY well. She is older so he is always checking her bills online and helping her out, even when she doesn't ask. He calls her and they have a lovely connection (no pun intended). He treats me the same. He has more patience and kindness than anyone I've ever known.

Here's the kicker. I was raised knee-deep in holy-roller religion (which I've come to terms with...God is within me, not a building). He won't even read the Bible and believes man wrote it to control the sheeple. But he is more Christ-like than any one I've ever known.

Life is a mystery.

OH, and our Border Terrier LOVES him. She loves me, too, but a dog adheres to ONE and that is OK. Seriously, she absolutely ADORES him and it is beautiful watching her lay her head on his chest. Just kills me.

I have an agreement with my cat. Since I have physical superiority over the life form, I give my cat a higher level of respect as far as my own empathy and perception goes towards myself.
This allows me to interact without forgetting my place in the micro/macro awareness of life.
It is a give take situation where I give the respect for the animals trust in return, the only way I am able to really communicate with feelings.

My first husband treated his mother like crap.......he also treated me like crap. He also abused animals.

My second husband always treated his mother with love and respect; he treats me with love and respect. And while he is not an animal lover like I am, he is very compassionate towards them.

Just think how great the world would be if we all treated each other and our fellow creatures as we ourselves like to be treated......Fox

Yes, I agree.

And, I believe how we treat animals is just as important to the Lord as how we treat other people.

He adores the animals that He created and they were to be our companions.

I hope to high heaven I am never in a situation to choose between any living being.

I remember a movie, I can't remember the name of it right now, but it was about the holocaust and how a mother had to choose between her two children. That would have destroyed me.

And I heard another story where a man and his dog were lost in the wilderness and were both starving. The guy killed his dog and ate it. The dog obviously could have killed him first and eaten him, but didn't.

The dog was loyal onto death.... To me that speaks much more highly of the dog, than the man.

I would NEVER, EVER eat my dog or horse or any animal to survive.

Why do you have to bring that dogma into a good thread B?
Do you eat meat? If so are you not pleasing 'Satan' by extension of surviving of the flesh of animals?

Who says anything about worshiping animals, this is about respect. Worship is idolising one thing over another which happens a lot in relationships not to mention the most obvious..

"I decided that God is testing us, to show us that we are no better than animals. After all, the same fate awaits man and animals alike. One dies just like the other. They are the same kind of creature. A human being is no better off than an animal, because life has no meaning for either. They are both going to the same place -- the dust. They both came from it; they will both go back to it. How can anyone be sure that a man's spirit goes upward while an animal's spirit goes down into the ground?"

That's what you guys are doing and you don't realize it. Yes, animals should be respected but not put on the same level as humans, you animal lovers will even state that you'd save an animal before a human. That's animal worship and it's evil...Satan has you confused and fooled. God gave us animals to use, not to worship and to be considered as human or higher than human.

Look the flaw the your argument here is who would you have me worship as higher than whomever I decide is actually tangible to me in my awareness at any given moment? If I had to 'worship' something as you say.
I do not worship animals, I respect their place and role in the cycle for life the same as anything or any person.

Are you going to tell me you would attribute your 'animal instincts' to an unseen, intangible, unproven and anthropomorphised version of a super sky daddy who by all accounts has never physically done anything for anyone, you know, since free will and all :)

Bull hockey.

“All the animals in the forest are Mine and the cattle on thousands of hills. All the wild birds are Mine and all living things in the fields.”
Psalm 50:10, 11

God cares for the animals (1 John 4:16).

“Look at the birds flying around . . . your Father in Heaven takes care of them”
Matthew 6:26

“He gives animals their food and feeds the young ravens when they call.” Psalm 147:9

Hosea 2:20 - I will make a covenant for them on that day, with the beasts of the field, with the birds of the air, and with the things that crawl on the ground. Bow and sword and war I will destroy from the land, and I will let them take their rest in security.

Psalm 145:-9-10,13,15-21 God loves all His creation and has made plans for all His children and the lesser creatures to enjoy His eternal Kingdom.

Romans 8:19 says that the lesser creatures await Christ’s return to redeem the sons of God so they, too, will be released from physical death to eternal life.

Romans 8:21-22 says “Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now”
