Anonymous Coward User ID: 3788546 United States 03/03/2014 07:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Pot warps the brain like no other drug. You think you are thinking clearly but you are not. If you want to live with warp brain go ahead. Quoting: WindyMind EDIT: I reread this post. I agree only to the extent that it makes me think I'm having epiphany's that sometimes make no sense when sober. It's never permanent though. I've never been in any danger or fucked up my brain because that just doesn't happen. I do however think that nonstop usage over a long period can make you forget what being sober is and it becomes easier to believe all the ridiculous things you come up with while high that normally you'd be like, "oh wait, that's just me being high." I feel like in moderation it's not a problem. Your brain returns to normal after you stop for a while. I feel like it really is very healing if you do it on occasion. The problems arise when it's all day every day. I've been there and I studied the effects it had on me. I no longer see that as necessary or something that I want to do. Personally, I'd recommend not giving in to the temptation of the analgesic effect of even the small dose. I never found weed to be a gateway, myself, except to more weed. If you have weed in the environment, your life becomes a garden of weed. Innocent enough, but probably looks stupid from a distance. I agree, no ill effect on physical health--may actually protect telomeres (aging edges of DNA) and no permanent effect from temporary paranoia or flights of fancy, but in the wink of an eye, a decade gets away from you. Using it to fight depression is also a trap, because it's a passive state. In the end, what does it matter really. Success in life? Willy Nelson seems to have handled it well, but he probably had a good career as musician and song writer before he began to partake? However, I like to be as sharp and ready as possible for whatever the day brings. It can takes months to "dry out" after a long spell of regular smoking. Just my humble opinion. |

However, I began to get very paranoid so I stopped. Now I have a job that just exhausts the shit out of me and I want to be able to come home and smoke a bowl. Quoting: grimloche There's not a lot of things to do while sober that can just make all the pain in my feet/back/mind from work go away. Weed is one of them. I drink beer, but it does far more harm than marijuana does so I'm sitting here wondering why the hell I'm drinking it when I can smoke natural herbs and have a better calming, pain relieving, relaxing feeling? However, I like being clear headed from not smoking as well. It's refreshing after an intense 2 years of being high most of the time. Try once a week. Add some CBD in there also to balance out the paranoia and keep your memory/cognitive function up. |

People say "Oh you can become mentally addicted to it" but you can become mentally addicted to any fucking thing! More people are mentally addicted to watching T.V. than are mentally addicted to pot... And witch of those addictions do you think is hardest for people to break? People's thoughts and perceptions are molded to think that pot is this horrible thing that should be avoided, but in reality it is freaking harmless! This society has been fooled since the start. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 50460425 United States 03/03/2014 08:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sometimes it is nice to take a break and let your tolerance drop down a bit. I love how things are right now for me...I don't smoke enough to even purchase weed for myself, but I have a good friend who lives about an hour away and his family lives near me. When he comes to visit the family he always picks me up for a smoke ride, and we usually smoke two bowls and I get W-a-S-t-E-d! I love it. I used to smoke all day every day for about 10-15 years straight and I would have to buy stuff every day or every other day. Now all it takes is a bit and I'm nicely stoned all day long. Of course doing drugs is bad mmmmmmkay, so I don't recommend anyone do drugs unless you know what you are getting into- which I think all of us grown ups can consider the risks and benefits of using any drug and make up our own minds as to whether or not we want to be under the influence of any mind altering drugs or not. Wish the damn government would realize that they are never going to be able to stop everyone from doing what they want to do.. |

Yep User ID: 33777475 United States 03/03/2014 08:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 6 months, friend. Quoting: Yep 33777475 That's the MINIMUM it takes for your brain to go back to whence it originally came. 12 months is better. If you throw in the towel now, you will never know what "normal" brain function is as an adult. Also keep in mind that you might have to do some painful emotional growth catching-up for a couple of years. You stunted your intellectual and emotional growth for all the time you were smoking weed. (I worked for a neurological research think tank in college. They happened to be doing work in this area. All the fMRI's showed that it takes 6-12 months to physiologically recover from even "casual" drug addiction, while most recovery programs only last a few weeks. Hence the enormous relapse rate.) The toughest period for most recovering folks is dealing with reality after having evaded it for so long. What reality am I evading, sir? It is you who is evading the reality that there are extremely successful individuals that enhance their lives with THC, while you're stuck in the realm of 1930's fear mongering. Who is evading? I never said that I haven't smoked weed myself. It does have its uses. Here is the problem, though, from the perspective of a half-breed, native American: ALL mind-altering drugs used to be outlawed by ALL tribes, except when used in the presence of a shaman or medicine man. Why? Because they were supposed to be used as a vehicle for SPIRITUAL transport. NOT an everyday escape from reality or "stress" or "anxiety". Moreover, these same compounds were also traditionally used as medicinal TREATMENTS for serious diseases. We are finding now, through modern medicine, what shamans knew thousands of years ago about the healing properties of hemp oils. It is NOT just about the plant itself. It is about the way it is prepared, the way it is delivered, the concoction, the tincture, the dose and the purpose. Drug abusers, a category into which you certainly fall, because you are not using weed for any medicinal or specific spiritual purposes, other than general dissatisfaction for life, for which there are other, better cures, makes your argument fall flat. My argument is rooted in several thousands of years of experiential truth and wisdom, as well as modern medicine. You try to hide from yourself and your life and you will fail every time. Find a shaman to make you face your life and yourself, and you will not need to smoke weed every day. Once you have done this, use weed, under spiritual guidance, to reach deeper levels of understanding about existence and yourself. Right now, the scans show you are still an addict, needing a plant to get through the day. That is not why it was created for mankind. You have abused it. |

So the virgin oil extracts the active ingredients ? and also makes the bud softer to eat? Because the fibers in cannabis are 4 times as strong as wood. So it would have to be cooked or made easier to digest i guess by soaking it, because our bodies have a hard time trying to break down raw cannabis fibers. |
