Guns Are Good Mmmmkay..

Some stats for you guys. I will provide some links also.

1) Between 1.5-2.5 million crimes are stopped each year by legal gun owners.

2) 200,000 women stop a sexual attack with a gun each year.

3) Only 8% of those crimes stopped by gun, actually required a criminal to be shot. Most were scared away by the sight of the gun.

4) About 2% of the criminals shot by legal gunowners were a case of mistaken identity, and an innocent was shot. Compare that to 11% of police shootings resulting in an innocent being shot due to mistaken identity.

5) In 2010 almost 2/3 of gun deaths in America were by suicide.

6) The vast majority of homicides by firearm are done in poor urban areas usually associated with gang violence. Not by legal gunowners.

7) In 2010 there were 11,000 homicides by firearm. 90% of those were gang members shooting other gang members.

So I think the stats speak for themselves. Guns help stop more violence than they create. Plus when there is gun violence, the majority is gang members killing other gang members. Not legal gun owners.

I would like to add an observation that I rarely see mentioned. It can't be exactly quantified by statistics, but all the statistics you quoted add legitimacy to it.

Imagine the crime stats if guns were made illegal in the same way as alcohol or pot prohibition.

It would create the most violent and deadly black market ever seen.

It would actually make it EASIER for the criminally inclined to obtain guns, and law abiding citizens would be sitting ducks.

And the only way to deal with the hell this would unleash would be to increase the size of every police department by 10x. There would be that many less people to do the work of normal occupations. And there would be constant bloodbaths and innocents shot in crossfire.

Liberal idiots have no ability to employ logic to foresee consequences of their delusions. NONE.

Very well could be. Whenever something is made illegal, it creates a black market for the item.

And in this case, it is something that every criminal wants and needs. If they KNOW they can get one, they will.

Whereas law abiding people would be more hesitant to do something illegal, especially when getting caught gets them put into prison with hardened criminals.

Some of the stats I used were from 2010.

Plus, as someone else mentioned, since then, gun sales have gone up, and violent crime has gone down.

Most Americans on here are good to go on this belief. That makes me proud, the police state will never dominate us completley until we are disarmed. Wait until the Aussie and English socialist trolls shit all over this thread with bullshit though. Its coming in a couple hours.
