You should check out sea world...they get whales and dolphins to do all kinds of cool stuff.

Being able to visually reproduce something in the form of art requires higher cognitive functioning.

Nor is it a "trick". The elephant is working from memory, not merely making a sketch copy.

Nothing in sea world has yet proven that clever, including the dolphins.

I suppose gorillas holding conversations in sign language is also just a trick some scientist is pulling to make ignorant people feel insecure, hm?

What possible benefit could an elephant have from constructing buildings and living in cities? They're not hairless thin-skinned apes.

Things adapt and evolve when a mutation proves more beneficial than the default blueprint.

No other species follows the exact same path, as we can see from the tree-like divergence of all life. So why would you expect elephants to follow the same path of advancement as humans?

We're not even the dominant species on this planet, ants are. They have a much higher success rate on this planet, and until we colonize another, they're "winning" by all accounts.

So, why aren't you living in a sand hive and farming fungi and aphids? Because you're not a fucking ant, and it was a dumb statement you made.

Yeah not quite the same. Even the dolphin at the end of video just made brushstrokes across the page, with no since of thought unlike this elephant. This creature actually thought about where to put the brush stroke on the page, even adding shadow.

Brief is a sad person who feels he must toddle into threads to play tough guy. It is a hallmark of a very insecure person, to have this need to constantly draw attention to their perceived image of strength and toughness.

Also notice the frequent bragging about money and success. I wish someone in Brief's social circle would give him proper credit for the way he has lifted himself up in life. A few words and a pat on the back might prevent this embarrassing need to impress random strangers on this internet.

I'd rather use their tusks to make a fortune than watch some tardphant paint.

Our own species began by painting the things we've witnessed on cave walls for others to see.

Some here would suggest our own species was taught this at some point as well.

I suppose those whose only claim to relevance is simply being a homo sapiens will be made to feel insecure. The fact someone in this thread felt threatened enough by a painting elephant to discredit the action, well... that only tells you great potentials are in play.
