Quoting: Anonymous Coward 52583283 You do realize the million year half life only exists if the energy isn't being used, right? You do realize the plant didn't have enough radioactive material to cause a global catastrophe right? Not even a single atomic weapon has that much power. It took 6 months, but the material is done transmogrifying. Do you really think there is such thing as an immortal energy source on this planet? Really? does that mean there is no need for the Exclusion Zone in Chernobyl since it happened so long ago? Yes. Photographers go there all the time. Look it up. They keep people away because there are other hazards around there, as well as state property. Photographers in radiation suits go there, and they are not allowed to stay in the area longer than 45 minutes. I just watched a whole documentary on this, and they have been trying just about everything to get rid of the hot area, including sunflowers, horses and the like. Look it up. |

Man, to think of all the billions of dollars that have been spent on nuclear waste storage! They could have just poured it into water bottles and sold it for human consumption, as it is so radiation-free. Snort. |

According to a recently published announcement, the entire study is being funded by donations from its growing list of participants, which includes scientists, educational institutions and various other interested organizations. "At the present time this entire initiative is unfunded by any state or federal agency, with time and costs being 'donated' by the participants," says Manley. "I hope that this changes. Anonymous Coward User ID: 53256771 Costa Rica 01/22/2014 03:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The study is flawed already in a few aspects. #1. The schools doing this are federally funded. #2. Kelp forests already have radioactive elements in them. kelp is KNOWN to absorb radioactive elements. Now stop being lazy and do your own research. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 36426283 United States 01/22/2014 03:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Radiation in California kelp was discovered last year, but they claim the levels were too low to be of concern. I would think with all the additional radiative materials being dumped into the world's oceans because of Fukushima, you will see sea life contaminated everywhere now. Like with the people living around Fukushima and Chernobyl, you will probably see all kinds of thyroid and heart (muscle) problems in all the sea mammals. The children living with weakened hearts living around Chernobyl is tragic. I'm wondering if all this has something to do with the Hopi prediction of the oceans turning black (because of death). |

Quoting: *Rhombus* There is no radiation pollution. Now go eat your GMO veggies and watch reality TV. yep, its a world extinction event rising in japan, thats the cover up made to think radiation is safe , and it will go away . only a matter of time before other plants explode when personnel leave these other power plants. |

Denial is for stupid people Intelligent people: A.) Ask for proof B.) Provide contrary evidence I have done both. Google "Half Life Radiation". here are some by products ...... Plutonium is the heaviest primordial element by virtue of its most stable isotope, plutonium-244, whose half-life of about 80 million years is just long enough for the element to be found in trace quantities in nature.[3] Plutonium is mostly a byproduct of nuclear reactions in reactors where some of the neutrons released by the fission process convert uranium-238 nuclei into plutonium.[4] Both plutonium-239 and plutonium-241 are fissile, meaning that they can sustain a nuclear chain reaction, leading to applications in nuclear weapons and nuclear reactors. Plutonium-240 exhibits a high rate of spontaneous fission, raising the neutron flux of any sample containing it. The presence of plutonium-240 limits a plutonium sample's usability for weapons or its quality as reactor fuel, and the percentage of plutonium-240 determines its grade (weapons grade, fuel grade, or reactor grade). Plutonium-238 has a half-life of 88 years and emits alpha particles. It is a heat source in radioisotope thermoelectric generators, which are used to power some spacecraft. Plutonium isotopes are expensive and inconvenient to separate, so particular isotopes are usually manufactured in specialized reactors. a good video editor can make anyone say anything the editor wants. |
