Well, my sister is impressionable, so she woke up proclaiming to be cured (placebo effect) but within the hour was as sick as she had been.

I need one of those shirts saying that I survived the evil crud flu of 2013-2014.

Do you still have the death rattle that comes with it? Scared me to hear the rattle sound come out every time I exhaled.

It really helps to not lay flat. Sleep in your chair at night. When I didn't, I felt like I was drowning.

Last night I started to feel a bit of a fever, so I took some Goldenseal and more this morning. Today I felt back to normal. That stuff really works. Try it, OP.

The tincture is the best. Mix 10 drops with 1 oz of juice, it coats the throat as it goes down.

I came down with something nasty in October. All severe flu like symptoms. I immediately started taking Mucinex-DM. Its real important to get congestion broken up. Took me 2 weeks to get rid of it. I've never had a worse dry hacking cough and I don't smoke. I had to keep a bottle of water right next to me at all times. Taking a drink every minute or two, to get rid of that cough.

If I got that during a prolonged power outage, I'm not sure I would have made it. Not in the winter time.

Those EmergenC (get the immune version) packets are amazing. Loaded with Vitamin C and D, along with other stuff. I haven't gotten sick in a couple years since I found out about it.

Few years ago I stared sick with the flu only from the reading about the flu development .

You folks are new at this. I used to do the simple remedies, but realized that they weren't as effective I had hoped (i.e., zinc, C, D3, etc). Keep in mind that I use these as preventatives, but not for a full-frontal assault. For that you need to pull out the big guns. I started feeling flu symptoms yesterday at around 1:00 pm. I treated myself with three flu bombs, four hours apart. Today I am right as rain, with absolutely no symptoms whatsoever. I'm 47 years old, and I know what the flu feels like when it's coming on.

This is the first time in my life that I've been able to conquer it in less than 24 hours.

Flu bomb recipe:

1 gel cap

4 drops lemon essential oil
2 drops oregano oil
2 drops frankincense essential oil
2 drops melaleuca oil (tea tree oil)

Put the oils in the gel cap and swallow. Do this three times, four hours apart. You will be amazed.

It took you 2 weeks to get rid of it because you used OTC poison.

Been there, done that...doesn't work.

I never get the flu shot either but I got the flu two weeks ago and am just today starting to feel normal. Only missed one day I'd work after being laid up an entire weekend but work was a struggle. Just had fever for 3 days and bronchitis but it didn't go into pneumonia. I'm healthy and lucky. I will be getting the flu shot every year after this.
