User ID: 52577613 United States 01/07/2014 10:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's just the weather. Stores aren't getting their supplies from their distributor. The distributor isn't getting them from the farms/factories. And the consumer is stockpiling because of the shortages and nasty weather. It'll pass when the blizzards die down and the snow clears. :doom360: |

So I would say the stores here were never well stocked. The organic section is minimal. Gotta go to the market or grow your own stuff to get anyting good. |

Plus, they were all out of winter gloves for both men and women. Hubby and I were both taken aback at how empty the shelves were on Sunday. Expected it after Christmas, but they are still empty now. At first, I thought it was because of the holiday, but my sis in law said it was "normal". It is also happening here in North Texas, but not to the degree I saw in La. Scary, I think stores are adjusting according to what people spend. and we must be spending less. |

I let my family do the shopping as much as possible - I HATE stores - but this is true for my area, northern Delaware. had thought it was the weather. meaning trucks, but it could be a little deeper than that alone. Anonymous Coward User ID: 52601897 United Kingdom 01/07/2014 06:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My reply (as it is from England and so not related to your current extreme weather) is more related to the sales industry changing their tactics. About 10 years ago , when i had to watch every penny, i was lucky to be given £500. I used it to buy and stock up on "non expiry" items. EG in the christmas sale I bought, table cloths, (reduced to 10% so i bought ten) Christmas cards ,....Ditto. Through the years I used this gift to take advantage of "offers" Last year AND this i have noticed that stores simply do NOT carry excess stock! My local shops have been EMPTY of christmas items from the beginng of december. HUGE POINT! People only notice lack of stock when it ISN'T there when they want it, which means they did NOT think ahead. Our last snow scare, (jan 2012) stripped my local stores within 3 days. I had bought stores in the november previous. SMUG YES but was able to provide for a few pensioners. my BIG suggestion is THINK AHEAD EVEN IF YOU MAY BE RIDDICULED. |
