They are the agency that provides ILMED (Medicaid insurance to people who are on welfare, can't afford insurance, or people who simply have no other option). Do not be afraid, ashamed or anything. The health and wellbeing of a baby is more important then pride. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 41155065 I had to use Medicaid once and I had a great experience. I have friends who have used Illinois Medicaid and they will never turn a pregnant woman away unless you financially sufficient to do so. Be thankful the Creator (Whomever you deem God to be) bestowed the gift of Life onto you. You are lucky. There are people all over the world, with lots of money, stability, everything, and they are infertile, and have failed attempt after attempt to try to have a baby with technology and cannot. I know this, because I work in Healthcare. You can do this. You have to be the strong one and you will be. Now go and do what a father should do and help, guide, and protect your family. God Bless! Yes I saw that, thank you very much. Just wanted to get some ideas going so when we do the test tomorrow if it's positive I can tell her some things to reassure her. Fuck Yea! |

So can all the Youths on da Projects. Baby Daddy becomes obsolete. Baby can grow up in da Projects and learn to Count to Potato in da Public Schools. And grow up to make the same mistakes. Or the kid could have decent shot at life by way of adoption. Former social worker here, seen it thousands of times Absolutely ZERO magic goes on with unplanned welfare pregnancy. Lots of misery and wasted opportunity, that and not much else Wow negative much? Unfortunately you have seen the bad and obviously never the good. I am a proud person and was laid off with no insurance when I got pregnant with my daughter I cried when I applied for Medicaid but needed to get to a doctor. Before I had my daughter I had a new job and insurance. Me and my husband have a huge happy family and are currently self sufficient he works as do I and that is the only time I took any handouts. Btw canceling Medicaid is near impossible. My point is sometimes things dont turn out for the worse. We learn and are blessed with amazing things we never thought possible. Negative? Try REALISTIC. Your cases is far, far from typical. Points being, you were laid off, as in 'you had worked' before. And you had a concience, that is you felt reasonable shame over signing up for medicaid. You had standards of ethics to go back to. I Support Our First Responders |

She was 19, I was 21. Now almost 34 years and 4 kids later, we know that our first child was just the “Kick in the butt” that I needed at the time. Tell your Girl how much you love her, that you will take care of her whatever happens. Get your arse in gear and be proud man. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 704288 United States 12/28/2013 04:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So obviously this wasn't planned and is not coming at a great time. Have fallen in hard times and was in the process of trying to start building my life back up. This is going to be a severe bump in the road. Quoting: CharlieMurphy It's not confirmed yet, we are going to take a test tomorrow but she is pretty late and both of us have a feeling she is. How it happened is a moot point so please don't ask. Neither of us like the idea of abortion and I can't help but feel that it would destroy our relationship. What I need help with is some ideas on where to start looking for assistance. What kinds of assistance are available. Any and all ideas are welcome. I don't ask for a lot from my GLP family, and most who know me will know I often offer advice when I was more active. I had my computer break a few months back and have pretty much just stuck to lurking around on my phone. For reference to assistance available we live in lake county Illinois. I have to go somewhere pretty soon here so I might not be here right away to answer any follow ups. Will be back and bumping this later. I really need help here guys, don't even know where to start looking. Also taking green karma so I can get a member upgrade to use the email features. Thank you GLP! My advice? GET CLIPPED, and don't reproduce again. We don't need anymore IDIOTS foisting their spawn on taxpayers. |

What a ^^ coward^^. I never once took my wife to a doctor and we have the best health insurance money can buy. Having a baby is NOT an emergency. We had our three kids right at home in a kiddie swimming pool. My wife hired a doola or whatever she was. |

He's almost a year old now and I've only heard him cry twice... Also my brother didn't have insurance at the time and didn't want to be on the government tit so it was less expensive to have the baby at home. Not to mention less germy... If the test is positive, look into a doula and home birth. IMO it is better... Sending positive vibes your way my friend :) What doesn't kill me only makes me stronger... |

Wasn't easy in the beginning and it certainly wasn't pretty but it made us stronger. I was lucky enough to have a decent job but it meant about the same hours as working 2 jobs. If you have two feet and a heartbeat, I don't see what the problem is. Quoting: toker If for some reason you luck out, take it as a warning and smarten up. Wrap that thing ffs. Don't get me wrong, I want to work and am getting a job. What I want help with is where to start looking for research into what I should be doing. Also will take whatever assistance I can to give this kid the best life it can have. Your girlfriend can also help with that. There is a program where she can get free infant formula and food stamps. |
