Public humiliation for a woman beater.... What a brilliant revenge!
A woman who was battered for refusing a thug's sexual advances took justice into her own hands and forced him to stand by a roadside with a sign reading: 'I beat women. Honk if I'm a scumbag.'

Alisha Hessler, 20, from Tampa, Florida, persuaded Gabriel Urena to undergo the humiliating ordeal - during which he also wore a dunce's hat - in return for her dropping charges against him.

excellent

There should be more public punishments like this for low level crime like shoplifting and so on.

We had the stocks in England during the Middle Ages - I'm all for bringing them back.

My reactions may surprise you.

(1) The state can still press charges. She swore out a police report detailing her charges. I don't see why they need more, they can subpoena her as a witness against him, and she cannot take the fifth because she is not (presumably) guilty of a crime.

(2) She likes him and has feelings for him. Otherwise she wouldn't let him out like this. The same feelings that got her to lead him on, to some extent, at the beginning. This didn't all come out of nowhere. Possibly now the feelings are greater, compounded with guilt and whatever excitsment happened between them before it was over.

Notice that I never said she asked for it. But the fact is that often, women are attracted to their attackers, and I am just speculating how that could have played out in this case.

Furthermore, OP has some positive feelings about the attacker. Otherwise OP would agree with Mindy Murphy, the advocate for battered women, who says the victim should have continued cooperation with the prosecution and not let her attacker out like this.

Interesting post. 5*

Oh yes, one more thing.

(3) This attacker is going to have a lot of girlfriends if he wants them. There are a lot of women who will be stimulated by this.

well I dunno how things are done in the states. But if the in NZ if a victim of any crime refuses to press charges, police generally will respect that and don't try to talk them out of it.

I just saw it as a unique solution.

It looks funny but actually it is unbelievable.

This man deserves prisontime not some joke. He beat her up badly.

So yes looking at the picture of the guy it looks like she has the hot for the guy and let him off lightly. No way the guy will learn anything from this. On contrary will get worse as he got off lightly.

Stupid woman IMO.

I am not by any means a supporter of physical violence in any form, directed to any sex.

I merely thought this was a unique and publicly humiliating thing to put him through. His bosses wife might have driven past for example.

Who knows what may come of this. Perhaps he may seek counseling help for his anger management issues. Unlikely, but you never know.

Prison does not rehabilitate these people it only teaches them to become better at hiding what they do imo.

I would have had him thrown in jail. Obviously this punishment was the one he preferred because he didn't want to go to jail. People will forget about it in a couple of days and he'll be beating up or raping another woman.

Certainly the man has issues, and I am not excusing his behaviour, because there is no excuse for beating a woman. In this case SHE hit him first.

The reason she decided not to go ahead was because of his facebox posting, would I have believed it no. But she did.

Honestly if a man laid one finger on me I would not hesitate to lay a complaint with the police. Regardless of my feelings about jails not rehabilitating people.

Hey, have you forgotten this is, according to your sacred words, conspiracy forum? Why are you hypocrite talk about non conspiracy here? Shouldn't you leave here and gossip at facebook?

That punishment was a joke. He should be sodomized in jail and then drop to cannibals in Syria for food. Okay, at least he should be his slave mowing her lawn or doing anything she wishes for a year instead of a year prison time.

But you, badmoonrisen, it's you who should deserve to hold that sign for your denigration and name calling of green girl while she's totally right about ISON. The sign should read: "I am a mofo ISONtard. I believe ISON still exists after perihelion though no one including amateur astronomers could prove it's existence. Honk if you think I am moron".

Metty Christmass too, merry new year, merry every day if possible, lol.

But the most pertinent question is, what is truth? Why we take a certain belief, albeit unproven, as truth? Is there a hidden unconscious motive or drive to hold onto a certain unproven belief?

The woman who forgave her beater, must have a certain belief or tendency behind her action to forgive easily. Perhaps she was easily persuaded with a sincere-sounding repentance. If she was programmed with feminist persuasion, it's less likely she will let the beater walk free from wrath. So, it must be a certain belief that guides her decision. The question is, why most people never realize they are driven by a set of belief system that's most of the time unproven?
