Even though I completely disagree with many of our military involvements, I think the most one of the most honorable things a person can do is to take at least a couple of years our of their life and serve in the military.

Tell me where is the honor in letting diseases like Charlie Manson or Jeffery Dalmher live . What about pedophiles , they always repeat their crimes and usually only get caught after destroying multiple lives , what about those victims where is the honor for them . Some things need killing and rapests should be at the top of the list and done in a public setting by the victim or family of the victim , that's honer .

The US military has no contact with Manson or Dahmer, they are US prisoners under jurisdiction of the Justice Department or else prisoners in some state jurisdiction.
