I see nothing appealing about opera, just sounds like fat chicks trying to make their screams into a song.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 51041616

Why thank you for moving bit of information. hf

You've obviously never heard nor seen Maria Callas. Fat she is not and if she did ever scream, I'm sure it was in perfect pitch.

Great (WOW)...I like as well :)

Thanks, Chas.

I not sure if it's just by accident or by design, but a number of children like this have been brought to my attention of late so it has me wondering just what the heck is going on. It's just... well.. unnatural :D
 Quoting: Éireann

No. It's not unnatural.
I am a 39 yr old woman.
As a child...I could draw, paint, dance, write fiction, create music, sing. Just as well, if not, better than most adults. I've won numerous art awards...literary awards (published in SUNY periodical at age 12, numerous award winning short stories)...my music has been used (commercials, online). I guess I was odd as a child, as my talents took sooooo much of my time. My parents didn't influence me...at all.
I still do all of those things...as well as any other PAID artist.

See...my brain is wired differently. I have so much creative talent and intelligence, I was studied. How could I write a symphony, just as complex as Mozart, yet, I didn't understand the concept of simple subtraction?
How could I write a work of fiction as perfect as The Odyssey in a day...yet I didn't grasp rights and lefts.
I had a lot of social mis-steps.It can be a lonely childhood...being stuck inside one's head full of creative ideas...it's a jail.
Having talents are great...when others are bored.
It hasn't helped me one damn bit in living a successful life.

If I LOVED it...I was good at it.But...it's gotten me...
NOWHERE.
Leonardo Da Vinci was a tortured man.
I see a lot of myself in this young girl.
I'm quite sure that she can do a lot of things...better than most people. But, then what?
I'm great at a lot of things that I HATE TO DO!
Like, cooking, for example. Why must every meal I make for someone end in "you must give me the recipe" or "you must cook for us!" when all I was trying to do was feed some-damn-body.I just wanted to eat a damn hot-dog...but somehow, I made the most perfect hot dog on the planet and now the whole damn planet wants a hot dog.

Everyone wants me to write them a song...everyone wants me to draw them a pic...everyone wants me to design their:
homes
cars
tattoos
Jeans
Jewelry
gardens
weddings

Not ONE person feels that I should need any kind of compensation for these efforts, however...that I should be thankful and SHARE my talents with the world.

People will suck the life out of you if you're "talented" enough.
They will steal your ideas, music, art, written works and claim them as theirs.
I found a meme on FB a year ago with a quote...BY ME!!! It originated on this dear old site.

This child definitely has a talent...it is in fact INTELLIGENCE...she can find the essence of what she needs to learn on her own accord.
Her voice will be just one of her many attributes.
I'm sure if she wanted to tap dance...she could pull it out of her butt if she watched it enough.
She is a CHAMELEON...very rare, very underrated people.

I hope that the world treats this one better.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14476022

I'm sorry that people used you for your talents. There is no right in that. But please do not allow it to drive you to bitterness. Please smile and be happy.

There are many more people at the other end of the spectrum and despite giving everything their all they always fall short. They get no appreciation, they get no applause, and their is nobody knocking at their door to see them display the person they have within. Nobody looks up to them, nobody cares.

Life is hard for us all. This thread is about a little girl who sang beautifully. I wish we could just keep it focused on that...

So many of these extremely gifted children (Old Souls) are horribly taken advantage of by people who see $$ signs instead of the obvious message to Humanity these people have to teach us. I wasn't all that surprised to see just how many of these children end up being used for another's recognition and advancement. It's a freaking tragedy.

Thank you for listening and thank you for your post :D

Some children are gifted and talented. They are NOT "old souls" or walk ins. They are human children with gifts that they need to cultivate if they have the drive to do so. But that ought not be exploited by adults egoistic (or materialistic) needs.

Chile performers always make me queasy. A child can develop her gift and talent without performing for the world like a trained poodle. Gifted and talented children are still children. They have many important things to do. I wonder if they can do them all of they are being paraded on stage.

I saw this video a few weeks ago, and posted it on my Facebook page with the comment that she was an "old soul". I think young children with extraordinary talents like this are experiencing a past life "bleed through" of some sort.

What a talent that girl has!hf
 Quoting: oh_yikes

I mean to tell ya. I still have chill bumps from listening to her sing. It was so beautiful it made me cry. Past life bleed through. I don't know any other way to classify it other than - Whoa!
 Quoting: Éireann

I thought it was remarkable, and I wonder if many child prodigies were masters in a past life. How do you explain a three or four yr. old that can play like a master? They remember!

I think I had the pleasure of witnessing a 5 yr. old prodigy and his piano/violin teacher didn't know it yet.

As many of you all know, I'm a huge fan of Opera. I fell in love with Maria Callas' angelic voice when I was little. She was born in 1923 and passed away in 1977.

Here is Maria singing "Ava Maria". You don't have to listen to the whole thing, but you need to hear a bit of it for a comparison.

[link to www.youtube.com]

Now. Listen to this little girl sing "O Mio Babbino Caro". Amira Willighagen is from Nijmegen, The Netherlands and is nine years old.

[link to www.youtube.com]

Uitstekend! I'm just...

The child's demeanor is more mature and humble than most adults I know. I don't know where her knowledge of singing comes from, but she didn't get it from a professional who has trained their voice for years and years. Everything about this child is magical. Old soul? Walk in? I mean. What the heck? How does a voice like that come out of a child that small? She has skill that takes most opera singers years to master.

I can post the full version of the little girl's performance w/English subtitles if anyone is interested. Wow.
 Quoting: Éireann

We were at a Resort in Mexico a few years ago around Christmas time. This song would come on every day when we were eating at the buffet. It must have been on a track.

Anyway, I's never heard it before. I had no idea what she was singing, but it was so beautiful it would stop me in my tracks and I would just listen.

We go every year at Christmas time and I always secretly hope I hear that song. We just got back from our annual trip this year and we didn't hear it. I missed it.

Beautiful stuff.

Edit to add: I just watched the kid's video and I'm astounded at how wonderful she is. And, yes she sounds just like the lovely gal who sang Ava Maria. Stunning!

It is grossly unfair to gifted and talented children (i was one) to dehumanise them by suggesting they are "more spiritual" or "a gift to the world" or "old souls". One of the worst things that can happen to a sensitive gifted child is to have their childhood ignored by adulta who see only gifts and talents (and marketability)

Gifted children are children born into bodies with good brains. Gifted people are intelligent and sensitive because we have good brains and bodies. We got good genes and we had enough nurturance in care in gestation and early childhood. We are people. We have the same needs as other people. We most emphatocally do NOT need to be the object of silly worshipful amazement because we can do most things well.

We most emphatically do not need to be dehumanised and objectified, which are as annoying and frustrating and painful when it is idolising as when it is demonising.

Sorry to rant on your thread. It just iros me to no end o be treated Luke a different sort of person or a more Advanced sort of person because I am smart. Ive never gotten over it. It hurts me to hear people speak of a chile as if she is not a real child.

Gifted children are much more vulnerable to being narcissistically used. We can be loved for our gifts more than cor who we are. Imagine how painful this is for a child, and how it distorts her development.

We are people. We are not índigo children or crystal children and we aren't something more spiritual than other people.

You can take any bright child and create a prodigy. Its better to support a balanced child.

Sorry again. I jist dont have a good feeling seeing children put in adult roles. Its creepy.

Your more then allowed to rant.

I don’t know a single stage performer with that attitude though who stuck with it. Obviously you were forced in to it, but to assume ALL are forced in to it is not correct. They hurt you obviously and it still hurts and shows.

I’m “gifted” heck I stole my first car at age 11 and no one taught me how. I could turn a heck of a time in a race at that age also, it was “natural” to me. No one taught me to drive I learned to drive a stick on my own even, I just felt it, I lived it I loved it. I wish they would have coddled me more but they did not and I took care of myself over the years.

We’re not all the same and as I said some thrive on it and live for it…I did, it was not a good thing for me at the time but I did it on my own.

Don’t stress about how you perceive others from a distance because of your own bad experiences in life.

Even if you don't make a dime from these talents, just think how much more you get out of life knowing how to do these many things.
your appreciation of the arts, music, etc is so much deeper and intense with all that knowledge.
Forget about what others think, just keep them for your own pleasure.

I don't think anyone who is not really familiar with Maria Callas can fully appreciate just sing startling this is.

I am a great fan on Maria Callas, and if I had heard that without the pic I would have said it was her.

Maria Callas had a very unique voice.

It is not just the little girl's wonderful execution, it is that she sounds exactly like Maria Callas, who no one else can be mistaken for. I listen to a lot of opera.

Wow!

Even if is a past life, how can this small girl carry that strong voice?

Please forgive me.
I am sorry
I love you
Thank you!!!

She has clear voice much better to listen too than Jackie Evancho, another child prodigy opera singer.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 51678646

Yeah. I wasn't too impressed with her demeanor. She's a bit of a brat. Not at all humble. She's also been taking voice lessons since a very early age whereas Amira just "decided" to sing an operatic song after hearing one sung at the Queen's Day festival.

don't want to burst your bubble, but they make that kind of stuff up for the rubes, like American Idol isn't rigged from the get go. Well let's hope Simon Cowell doesn't "discover" her or she'll be all hookered up in no time

Yes. Gifted academic.

I don't know what makes a person do what they do. I really don't know all that much about him.

absolutely amazing!

Either the thing you are grasping at disappears, or you yourself disappear.
It is only a matter of which occurs first."
