The basic premise is that you must conform to the system and support the infrastructure. If they let one person do it more will follow. The only way to live off the grid is to be homeless...... meaning that you can't have any money without giving some of it back.

the meters are a network. Capture and study the traffic. I am surprised no one has transmitted bogus data. The incentive is free power.

The Amish and some other religious groups live off the grid. Are the nazi's going to evict them from their homes too?

That was part of what I was thinking..there's so many types of people out there living off the grid..it makes you wonder who is going to be kicked out of their home next..




The article didn't say anything about it not being her home....I would have to believe it's her home until otherwise is said..She said she chooses to live off grid in her home. AND.. A local attorney has decided to represent Speronis for free, according to WFTX-TV.

The link said she owned the house and it was paid off. Her taxes were up to date. Like someone else already posted, the thought of people slipping through their grasps scares them. Everybody MUST conform and obey.

She probably spends more money on propane, batteries and water than she would be spending on electricity and city water.

Why doesn't she just get the electricity and water hooked back up, but just not use it? She could use it when she wanted, or not.

she's probably too proud. This is her own little "fuck you" to society.

Might not mean much to us but to her its her life, her money, her life.

I think they are implying that's what Granny is saying to society.

the news reporters stated that the city inspector condemned
the property because the owner did not have electricity,
sewage, and water turned on.

this is what you get when you live in a city or town border.

the bureaucrats/inspectors are the real lords over you.

She owns the home free and clear, taxes paid up to date.

We the People are supposed to have freedom of choice. She owns that home and who is she hurting? They posted what was basically a condemned sign without seeing inside the home.

I think it's BS too. They have no authority to condemn a property just because it doesn't have electricity and/or water hooked up.

They can condemn any property they wish to. Best Buy wanted to build there offices in a specific spot but a car dealership wouldn't sell their land,the city basically condemned a parking lot to get the property for Best Buy.

She gets pro-bono legal, she has sued and been sued many times, she is a very litigious individual who is selling books and spending time in court.

If there is city sewage and city water running in the street in front of the house, then code is set to insist on these basics for health reasons.

The basic idea is that they don't want people shitting in a hole in their back yard, instead they want the waste removed from the neighborhood, to a treatment facility where it gets treated.

If you have water in the street in front of your property, housing density is most likely too high to support things like privies and septic tanks.


Similar laws are pretty much everywhere in the USA and industrialized nations. The problem is not one or two individuals living on a privy, the problem is that privies and leach lines (septic tanks) leach out their bio-wastes into the surrounding soils.

If she is on a privy (out house) then there is potential for airborne fecal based disease which the code is in place to protect everyone that lives around her.

The property is not being condemned because she lives off grid, its being condemned because it is most likely in violation of local health codes that protect her neighbors from her shit.

No doubt if she lived a bit away from town, on a street road without water main and sewers she could live pretty much as she pleases, because the local population density would be low enough to sustain her lifestyle.

Where I live, the minimum charges for gas, water and electricity without using ANYTHING, is around $92.00/month.

Minimum forced charges in many areas would cost around $1200.00 a month. Of course, that doesn't include any required deposits, hookup charges, or credit/ID requirements.
