Hey ~ that is a great way of looking at it!! I have decided i dont care that i am going to falll short on the word count. I already know that there are a lot of things i will be adding in the revision, and not a lot to take out, so I know that when it is finally done it will have the 100,000 words i am looking for!

Hi Kool! That sounds awesome, and yes, a few words every day is a great way to do it. It only took a few days for it to become habit, and those few words add up so quickly! I have been doing this for a month now, and the end is in sight already - at least for the rough draft. Next comes first revision, where i really give it my all, and then i will be sending copies out to a few family members for feedback, and making a final revision based on their notes. Then i will be sending it out to agents, and the hardest part of all will begin - THE WAITING GAME!! I am not a patient person, never have been. I think there will be nothing to do but send it out, and then forget about it. I will probably get started right away on book two to help keep me distracted!!

I am just so anxious to see the first draft finished. Poverty is also a great motivator. Not like i am going to get rich quick with this, but when pennies are running low, and i feel down about it, i just feel like i need to be doing something productive. Something with at least the pretense of potential. Trying hard not to feel like a burden to my poor husband!!

WOW!! Writer's block sucks so very much! It has been a hard week or two, trying to force myself to write. The words would just not come. I would sit here time after time and stare at the blinking cursor, and nothing would happen. It didnt help that I have been so sick. Still am, but my brain is not as foggy as it has been. I have been struggling a lot with doubts. Thinking I am just so stupid for thinking I could do something so awesome as succeed where so many people fail. Thinking I would better serve my family by going out and getting some menial job, even though I would suffer physically for it. But I made it back today. I am writing again, and I think I can make it over this black cloud of fear that is looming over me!
So I am most pleased to report that I am up to 46,000 words and still going. I have never written so much before, so feeling a little proud today!

You can. just remember Hemingway. when he got blocked, he would squeeze orange peels into the fire and gaze at the colors and say to himself, all you have to do is write one true sentence. the rest will come. and he did,too.
look for that one true sentence and it will break the spell.

Almost half way!

haha - thanks for the applause! More than halfway even! This rough draft is going to fall very short of the 100k word count. But in the second revision it is getting fattened up quite a bit so I am not worried. I think the rough draft is going to end up at about 60 - 70k. I am hoping to get as much as 80, but I am not sure how much of the story is left. Time will tell - but yes, the end is in sight!!!

We all know great literature is based off of how fast you can write a ton of words... so sad. However, you are an unlikable dumb shit so I will enjoy your failure.

I wonder how you think "great literature" is made? Is writing a novel anything besides putting words down? My word count is simply to be sure i stay within the guidelines set by agents and publishers.
I would say you seem far less likeable than I, so I will enjoy proving you wrong.
