Brrrrrrrrrr........ it's dang cold. Temp check and location for EVERYBODY check in and do tell us

Doing ok, so far no water pipes froze. There are 4 different houses on the place so keeping everything going can be tricky. Guess we have been blessed in that regard. It is brutal though. I just keep wondering when the hell this is going to break. Our high today is only -27. Tonight will be another doozy!

It's so cold here the brothers are wearing their pants pulled up.

Is this a record? I don't remember hearing much colder temps often.

Thanks Az, just doing the best we can. I remember year ago, probably early 70's, it got cold like this and lasted almost a month. It was horrible.

We got some unexpeced snow there the other day and most of it is still on the ground. It's getting colder earlier. How about where you are? Earlier too?

No kidding! Got down to -35F last night. Back up to -25F currently. If the forecast holds it should start warming up and we may actually make it above 0 for the first time in a week or so!

Well, we got a foot of snow out of this storm, then all the cold. But before that we had a real nice fall, and it was in the 40's before this hit! Kind of a shock, even for us weather veterans!

Good morning Mopar. I lived in SE Iowa for 17 years and noticed during those years that an early cold snap resulted in the rest of the winter being mild. Did you ever notice any correlation like that?

How many places are having record lows?

I ask because several years ago I could litteraly smell a mini ice age coming.

December 1983 was a doozy, too, in Iowa it was high of -5 F for weeks...

Oh, and with six feet of snow, and no place to park due to snow plows filling parking lots with excess snow...that was a bad time

Records have been falling all around the state and I am sure the region. We're beating records from the 30's and 70's mainly.

-30 here in Great Falls, MT. Wind chill is -50. We were colder than the South Pole early yesterday...

Depends on the mix of your coolant. Usually a 50/50 mix around here, lowers the freezing point down to about -35F.

I have a freeze plug heater in my pickup, but this place, just moved into in Oct, doesn't have an outlet outside to plug in to.

I have a newer diesel, so it also has heaters in the fuel tank and the fuel filter that run off the vehicle battery. After the low last night I am glad I went and topped of with some #1 after work yesterday. Hopefully that kept it from gelling. I'll find out when I head out in a bit.

It got down to -35 last night. I feel bad for the folks that lost power in Fox Farm area.
