Planets in evening sky in December

What do we mean by visible planet?

Venus after sunset

Jupiter: early evening

Planets in morning sky in December

Jupiter: early evening to dawn

Mars: predawn/dawn sky

Saturn: predawn/dawn sky

Mercury: before sunrise, but quickly fading

Why don't you guys post a decent picture taken with a tripod instead of a shitty mobile out of focus video?

BTW a nice college degree grade course on optics and image processing could get you guys a long way and dispel all that nibiru/second sun nonsense.

Peace.

Re: What Is The Reddish Star I Saw at/after Sunset in South East? It's NOT Venus
I've been a bit of a novice astronomer for almost twenty years, and I am aware of the planet and the constellations. But in all my years of stargazing Ive never seen this particular star. I do believe its a red giant star just because of its characteristics but that being said it was'nt there as far as i can tell till just this month. my telescope is broke right now or i would at least know what it is for sure. all Ido know is it is relatively knew to the sky no matter what month day or time anyone may have seen it. So if thier are any real astronomers out there PLEASE give us a realistic answer and not just guesses. And one more thing , if it is a red giant depending on how far away it is it's not far from or in the process of going SUPERNOVA!!!! hoPE WE'RE NOT IN ITS WAY. HOPE THIS HELPS. GOOD LUCK

If someone is ignorant of Arcturus
the star sinking near the highest pole,
why the slow Bootes should steer the Great Bear
and sink its late flames into the horizon,
although very quickly it unfolds its rising,
one will marvel at the law of high heaven.

The unfinished horns of the full moon become pale
by the dark of fearful night,
and the moon uncovers the diffused stars,
which she had covered with her shining face:
public error agitates the nations
and they tire from repeatedly striking cymbals.

No one wonders at the northwest winds
beating the coast with roaring waves
nor the mass hardened by the snow's cold
being dissolved by the burning heat of the sun.
For here it is easy to discern the causes,
there hidden things disturb the feelings.

Age promotes all things which are rare,
and the fickle crowd is stunned by sudden things,
but should the cloudy error of ignorance depart,
with progress they cease to seem strange!

Yeah, I've been seeing it as well all Fall.
I think there are many threads on it, but there is a lot of noise from opinions in them.

No, this object I saw was just slightly east of south and very high up in the sky. I have went out on several occasions to look for this south/southwest object in the other threads to no avail.

This was around 70 degrees in the sky and the sun had not fully set yet and I watch Venus over a tree in the backyard when the sky is clear and this was well south of that.

Yes, Venus was north west of this. How high up would you say Venus was in comparison? I was quite surprised by this as I couldn't locate what it was on Google Sky, which is usually pretty reliable, lol. I noticed it AFTER sunset and it stayed up in the sky for a while after that. It's not far above the horizon so I couldn't follow it's progress all the way home - too many trees and buildings.

I'm glad other people are seeing this and I just wonder what it is....

South and a little east, that was Mars. Mars is red. You should have seen it when it was huuuuge a couple of weeks ago.

Re: What Is The Reddish Star I Saw at/after Sunset in South East? It's NOT Venus
O.K. Now iAM REALLY CURIOUS. The bright red star we have all been trying to identify has vanished, or maybe it was a mass hallucination(JUST JOKING)!!! But really it's not thier anymore. I see MARS but it was thier last night as well. oh well maybe some alien got curious and observed us for a couple nights disguised as a red star as no one else seems to have seen it. Iasked a friend who has an observatory but they said they were'nt looking last night and its not thier tonite. if anyone gets a solid answer please post. thanks and keep looking at the stars!!!!!
