(OP) User ID: 50942233 United States 12/04/2013 11:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We were the proud owners of a tiny male cat (Kramer), a female black lab (Buddy) and a female cinammon lab (Cheney). Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1380509 Three years ago, Cheney (the youngest) was diagnosed with bone cancer, in her front left leg. We removed the leg and she was a new dog...despite being a tri-paw!!! Kramer, the oldest was about 15 years, and he quickly began to decline in health around the time Cheney lost her leg. He died 6 months later. Buddy, the older of the two labs was starting to have hip issues, but in typical lab fashion was always happy and tried to keep up with the family. When Kramer died, Buddy began acting despondent, but Cheney was always playful and the two of them kept each other distracted. About three months after Kramer died, Cheney's cancer came back, and it was fast. She died about a month after relapse. Two weeks after that, Buddy passed away, as her kidneys failed. It was, and still is hard for me to think about, and sometimes, when the rest of the family is asleep, and I am working in the basement or kitchen, I expect to see the three of them sitting there watching me, and keeping me company. I miss them Oh God. That's heart-wrenching. You lost all three of them within a few months. That must have been absolutely devastating. My heart goes out to you, AC. I don't have words enough to express my sympathy. And I know that I will miss my girl and "expect" to see her as well. Welcoming me home after work, sneaking on the bed at night. Trying to bring GLP together. I'm still collecting flags from posters all over the world. Thread: Official "Flags from around the world" thread. Anonymous Coward User ID: 51044190 United States 12/04/2013 11:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So sorry op... Allot of non pet owners dont understand that a loss of a pet is like losing a child... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 51044190 heart goes out to you op.. No, it is not like losing a child. This statement irritates me having lost a child. It hurts, no doubt about that, it hurts bad, I'm still missing my cat Tig-Monster 3 years later, but it is not even close to the same thing as the loss of a child. OP, so sorry for your loss, I know how badly it hurts Well I have lost both and it is very close... |

User ID: 45126742 United States 12/04/2013 11:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am so sorry, Doomish. I know how this feels... Our beloved Rocky..a Silver Persian cat, at 16 years old all of a sudden had seizures. Turned out it was a brain tumor. On the first day he went blind....I had to sleep on the floor with him so he wouldn't fall off my bed. The second day the seizures were constant, and unrelenting. We said "Good night, sweet boy", and he crossed to a better place. Our vet was great...let us sing his goodnite song while he left his body. I'm crying right now..can't even see what I;m typing.. So, dear Doomish...My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours today. Prayer.....the world's first wireless connection. |

So, dear Doomish...My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours today. Wow. You had even less time than we did. I thought 5 days was too short. I can't imagine having had less than that. Because her seizure happened in the evening, we didn't get to go to our normal vet - we had to go to a 24 hour emergency clinic. But they were very wonderful there. We brought in our paperwork showing her diagnosis and her medical history and they sedated her so that the seizures stopped long enough for me to hold her while she went to sleep. I whispered in her ear that we'd soon be together again - in the blink of an eye for her. It was actually very peaceful for both of us. I'm sorry for your pain and loss as well, Carol. We had to let our Rocket go seven years ago because of bone cancer in his front left paw. He was a rottweiler/shepard cross, so removal of the limb was not really an option due to a previous injury in his right shoulder. I still miss him, can't even post about him now without getting teary. |

User ID: 7384957 United States 12/04/2013 04:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My brother lost his 9 yr old golden retriever this morning. He took it to the vet at Petsmart last week for vaccinations, he came down something afterwards. They took him back and they said he got kennel cough from another dog at Petsmart clinic. They put him on some meds, saw him Sunday and he seemed fine. Tis morning he had labored breathing and they took him to my vet down the road, he was dead in 10 minutes. Vet said he had a build-up of fluid in his lungs and near his heart. Apparent heart attack. I buried him today, sad time for all of us. Term Limits for EVERY elected and appointed office. User ID: 24946868 United States 12/04/2013 04:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So sorry for your loss..... I just lost my sheltie of nearly 15 years this past fall...It's a long story, but even though he was getting old, losing his sight and hearing, he had tons of spunk, until he got hit by a car and got his leg broke, (which was totally my fault). then his spirit just went downhill. I kept praying he would just fall asleep, and kept telling him that would be ok....but he just kept hanging on. Finally, we knew the time was come that we just needed to have him put down. One of the most miserable experience we can go through, imo. Just 1 week and a half ago now, I just adopted a little mini-schnauzer who is 6 years old, blind in one eye, and half blind in the other eye. She is the sweetest thing and it is helpful to put energy into another little creature who needs help. Love is like light. It is never constrained to its source; it shines on everything and tends to spread spontaneously, unless we block it! ~ Cosmic Swami |

Ginger (the dog in the pics) was a pound puppy that was on her last days before being put down. She didn't get to live a long life, but at least she got to live one. If I'd left her at the shelter, she probably would never have seen the mountains, or the oceans, or all the other great places she's been. Trying to bring GLP together.
