Something does not add up, why it takes 14 days for the same travel that took only 4 days for Apollo 11, that is it took that much to Stanley Kubrick's story line...

Apollo 11 was launched on July 16, 1969 and landed on the Moon on July 20, 1969.

Lunokhod 1 was the first of two unmanned lunar rovers landed on the Moon by the Soviet Union.
Luna 17 was launched on November 10, 1970. The spacecraft soft-landed on the Moon in the Sea of Rains on November 17.

It took 7 days for Lunokhod 1 to land on the moon, or maybe not...

It will take 4-5 days to get there...
After that its all about getting it into the correct position for touch down.

It takes 4 days to set up a studio with a mock moon and to drive out to Area 51 and 53 for filming.

They should get some great shots of the Earth getting peppered by ISON's debris

The Apollo craft used a less efficient transfer orbit to get there faster so they didn't have to bring as much consumables (air, water, food). A robotic probe can afford to get there with a more efficient orbit and use less rocket fuel in doing so.

ground penetrating radar...that might make for some interesting reading, given all the suggestions that the moon is hollow.
