What causes clenching and grinding of the teeth?

All three of my brothers smoke weed, and all three of them have that problem. I, however, do not.

Weed does not make one clench thier teeth. I would know, I've smoked it every day for the past seven years. The only times I've clenched or ground my teeth, was when I did some sort of stimulant or mdma. I haven't done either of those in a long time, and I also haven't clenched or ground my teeth in a long time.

Weed, no. Stimulants, yes.

MDA, you are really stoned when your vision starts strobing and you jaw gets sore from the tension of clenching.

It is caused by teeth out of alignment, bad bite.

It's bad thing, your teeth become short and stumpy after while.

If the dentist can't fix it, they'll give you medicine to stop it, or if that doesn't work, you can wear a mouth-guard.
Try having your mate bitchslap you if you wake them with your grinding. That might help.

Stress - anxiety chiefly.

Other issues can be medical due to physiological issues or mental - sort of like a nervous tic.

Personally I grind my teeth when I am frustrated, irritated or in pain (physical or otherwise).
