I was deeply influenced by ABC: A Child's First Alphabet Book by Alison Jay

The surprise ending haunts me to this day.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20455247

Though the link would have brought you to the correct book I wished to point out that the author's first name is Alison with one "L" and not two in case you go searching for other titles by that author.

Great author and the book I cited above is a great companion piece to 1-2-3: A Child's First Counting Book

[link to www.barnesandnoble.com]

You can often find them in a box set. You may think I jest, but please read the reviews if you won't take my word for it. Two of the most influential books in my life — I cannot recommend them enough.

Well, the 'surprise ending' comment was made partly in jest but they are wonderful books and worth a browse at least.

Happy shopping!

Re: Got a gift card for Barnes n Noble...book ideas please
Thanks to all who have posted ideas for me so far...
You have saved me much time and stress trying to search for books.

I love all suggestions so far and I am going to buy as many of them as I can this time around.

I spend way too much money on books..it is my one splurge..

Everyone who knows me knows this was the perfect gift for me :)
I have over 2000 books in my collection and have read them all. Some of them more than once. Needed some new blood, so to speak :)

this book is evil
disgusting , he labels legitimate research and investigation "hate"
i guess its "hateful" to be a researcher and investigator about things that contradict the mainstream

emotions revelead &
unmasking the face &
telling lies
by Paul Ekman

The tv-series "lie to me" is based on 'em ...

And the special edition of
"The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" by Douglas Adams

alle parts of the series in one book and the cool thing is, it is made to look like a bible ... similar paper-weight etc. and even some "gold-plating" on the sides of the pages ...

cheers

Abi:
Buy "The Creature From Jekyll Island" which tells how the privately owned and unconstitutional Federal Reserve was created.

On the better side, buy "He Walked The Americas" by Tolken. It details this mans 25 year venture to meet many indigenous tribes in all of North America and South America. With each tribe he had to earn the respect of the elders to be told of the story passed down for 2000 years. All the elders speak of the "Healer" that came to the Americas over 2000 years ago. You do know whom I am talking about, do you not?

$300

I did not read them all in one day or month..lol
It is my collection started as a child and continued every month of my life.

I read at night when the children are asleep. I read at doctor appointments, as a passenger in a vehicle, in the bathroom, anywhere and everywhere. I do not sleep much.

Yes, I do have a full time job...2 paying jobs, in fact.
I am a NCBTMB LMT and a PA.(in case that is where you were going with that )

Thanks to Glp and all the wonderful people sharing their ideas during my time here, I have added 100 books to my collection and more to come :)
