Fed Plans Regulations to Counter Bank Runs...wonder for whom?

Fed Plans Regulations to Counter Bank Runs...wonder for whom?
[link to www.cnbc.com]

"Global regulators need more policy tools to counter the risk of devastating bank runs and should have powers over a wide array of market participants, U.S. Federal Reserve Governor Dan Tarullo said on Friday."

I wonder who the new regulations would be for?

A) requiring the banks to up their reserves to actually cover people wanting to withdraw their money
Or
B) limitations on withdrawals during some kind of nationally declared emergency

Considering the state of the economy, I think it's interesting timing.

This is another capital control to keep money from escaping when the bail-ins begin...

I think I know too OP, but who do you think it is? I believe it is a well known firm out of NY, not traditionally considered a bank. I'll just leave it at that.

Absolutely, Bail-Ins were written into law in the Dodd/Frank Banking Reform Act (Consumer Friendly My Ass) and every since that day they've been instituting more and more capital controls...

JPM and some other mega-banks have stopped allowing small business' to transfer money over seas, there are serious tax consequences to buying property overseas or moving money to an overseas account. Even the new $100 bill has an RFID Magnetic Ink Strip (that cannot be removed like the old mag strips could) so they can scan people and find out how much cash they have on their person or in their luggage.

Now they're tweaking the laws and regs for what looks like a major crisis down the road...when they figured out bail-ins wouldn't cover the big banks on their derivative exposure, Congress and Obama just laid it back off on the tax payers...

These new regs on limiting withdrawals fit the pattern of legislation and regulation that has been happening since 2010.

I find it very rare to run into anyone in the "real world" that even is aware that such things are happening, much less wants to discuss them. They get a blank stare and usually move on to some issue that's on the television news. But these things are real, and they wouldn't be putting all these regulations, tracking, and limitations in place if there weren't a reason.

excuse me if I'm being ignorant, but I read this article. All I read was the recommendation for banks to have more capital on hand in case of bank runs. I saw no capital controls type policy recommendations with regards to depositors. Did I miss something?

Maybe that is all that they are saying. Certainly a valid point. But I do wonder what wasn't said, and discussing a bank run seems to be openly saying that it is a possibility. Personally, I think it is a probability.hf

I wonder who the new regulations would be for?

You have to ask?

There has been a silent coup and the American "citizens" have LOST!

ALL laws and regulations are for the benefit of SYNTHETIC ENTITIES (read corporations) and at the expense of NATURAL Entities (read humans).

The useless eaters are being ring-fenced for the final solution.

They are preparing for the dollar to lose its value, or to collapse altogether. "Shadow Banking" sounds ominous. This new Fed chief, Yellin, is another "Shadow Turd" that's going to lead us all down the "Shadow Toilet".

In a ZIRP environment this makes sense - they can't steal (except through inflation) that which they don't already possess under lock and key (or crypto bytes)

The prelude to the final act will be outlawing legal tender and it has been in the pipeline for a while - why do you think they keep changing the appearance of US paper money - sure they say it is to prevent counterfeiting but it is really to prepare and to confuse the useless eaters: to prepare them to accept new currency and to confuse them as to what will be the legitimate fiat in the near future.

Agreed. what 'wasn't' said could be key.

I've been moving my cash out of the bank slowly since 2011. Makes me think of another point. Anyone moving cash out from their bank needs to be sure to have it in large and small denominations. In a cash crisis it'll be hard to make change for a $100 when you're trying to buy a few loaves of bread. For this reason I cashed out $3,000 in dollar coins and the rest in 5,10,20,100 bills. Just a suggestion.

I used to do the same thing, but now it'd just be a waste of time to even stop at my safe. Bills eat up most of my paycheck, and I make decent money for Florida. I do spend some on having fun. Life's short, and I'm gonna live it up.
