I believe that spirit beings can take on physical form. Remember when the three "men" visited Abram to tell him that Sarai would bear the child of promise? Abram offered to feed and shelter them, which seems to indicate that they had physical bodies.

Also, the book of Hebrews tells us to be hospitable to strangers, because sometimes they might be angels in disguise.
