In my opinion, the best strategy for dealing with the global police state is to hide in plain sight. Use the services but use them wisely. E.G., I use my gmail only in connection with my phone; no other email goes through there. I'm on FB but only give partially true info. To stay out completely makes you stand out, and there is no escaping the spying, even if you go completely off-grid.
