The theory of evolution is very religious and dogmatic and a hindrance to science, so a great multitude are already religious extremists even if they aren't buddhist or muslim, or refuse to acknowledge their dogma, they are still very much following superstition which explains society's moral decline and current decay, heading towards destruction.

This article is an example of the self righteous intolerance looking down your nose at other people professing to be wise kind of flailing around trying to use the name of science to justify what future is desired.

What I meant was, we're all going to be so fucking poor and bankrupt we'll be thanking the Lord for the weed soup we eat every night for our one meal a day while we live in a cardboard box under the overpass.

There won't be any material possessions to make us happy and healthy where we're headed. Most will probably die as you suggest. The rest hopefully rise up with righteous anger and religious fervor and kill the bastards who did it all to them and start over. Funny, but that's the best we can hope for from what I see.

I will say this, our current downhill slide into economic and moral oblivion seems to pair up quite nicely with the corresponding slide in religious practice. I don't think that's a coincidence and I think that's something atheists tend to overlook. It may well be that prosperity and atheism cannot go hand in hand. Perhaps prosperity breeds atheism but it seems to me like it only ends only in destruction, rather than utopia. That seems to me to be the case as evidenced by the state of the once religious Western nations today.

Maybe somebody can think of a historical example that proves me wrong.
