Re: Pulsating And Expanding Western Sky UFO - October 26, 2013
You know i am so sick of hearing that anything seen in the sky is "Venus"... lets get real here people. I have seen this exact same thing every night ( when not cloudy ) for the last 3 years. I have watched it faithfully because it is right out my bedroom window. My bedroom window faces the east and this thing is all ways on the east, south east sky. Same place every time/night i see it. It flashes red-white-blue-green-purplish and some times i think i even see yellowish in it. When i grab the binoculars.... it is very clear and plain it is NOT Venus. And at the same time every night ( middle of night ) if i am awake i lay there and watch it zoom off real fast any where between 4 and 5 a.m. So unless Venus has hemmy in it i do not think it is Venus... please put your heads together and come up with another line for this... it is not a star or planet X.

OP I feel sorry for you destroying your credibility IRL like this. I was cringing the entire video.

Hopefully none of those people are not people you personally know and will ever see you again. Maybe your wife will come to forget about it at some point and slowly regain trust in you again at some point.

Not sure with your knowledge you would not zoom out and scan left and right to find venus and arturus, you leave the credibility open to doubt not doing this, when you showed sky app on previous video you only moved the app not the camera

I would expect any future video would would use the app, show the key suspects such as antares, venus and arturus on camera and in sky app, then 1 in same shot zoomed out ie is venus to left of your object

Curious videos you have but someone with experience such as you would know this is the questions that would be raised

lets see what comes next

Venus shining bright for a few weeks

South Jersey Skies: Watching the strange path of Venus

Some of my readers have asked me about the very bright star low in the southwest shortly after sunset. As they all suspected, it is the planet Venus. It's worth watching: over the next few weeks it will be following a strange path, as shown in Fig. 1. Let's find out why.

Find Venus – amazing and gorgeous – high in the west-southwestern sky at dusk now. The planet looks like a beaming, gigantic LED flashlight aimed directly at you. The planet appears brighter at -4.8 magnitude (extraordinarily bright) by month’s end. The young moon casually visits Venus on Nov. 6.

Venus ascending

Published Date Thursday, 10 October 2013 00:48 Written by Edward Gleason

"It's Venus."

We've been repeating that sentence quite often lately, for many people have noticed that stunningly bright light adorning the western evening sky. We expect to say these words quite often, as Venus will grow even brighter throughout the next two months. Remarkably, Venus will be even two and a half times brighter on the first of December than it is now. At this time, Venus will be so intensely bright it will even cast faint shadows at night, provided the Moon has not yet risen.

Venus outshines all the other planets and night sky stars. In fact, our sister world is the third brightest sky object, after the Sun and Moon. Many sky watchers often mistake it for a plane or spacecraft, as it is difficult to believe that a non-terrestrial object could exude such a light. One often wonders how Venus can always make such a spectacle of itself. Well, we understand that a planet's brightness varies due to four factors, two of which, its size and albedo, are intrinsic and invariable; while two other factors, its distance from the Sun and from Earth, constantly change. Examining these factors in greater detail will help us understand why Venus will always remain the sky's brightest planet.

When we observe a planet, we're seeing Sunlight reflecting off its surface or, in the case of a gas giant planet, its upper 'cloud' layer.

The closer a planet is to the Sun, the brighter it will tend to be as the solar radiation becomes more intense with decreasing distance. The Sunlight Venus receives is more concentrated than the the light Earth absorbs. Therefore, the reflected light will be commensurately more intense, as well.

Is this the same thing that people are repeatedly reporting seeing?

Also, didn't watch the whole thing, 17 minutes is a bit long to look at a twinkling dot even if it is the best footage so far, but did you point your camera at Venus during this video? Will be easier to convince some of the naysayers if you swing over to Venus and anything else this is being passed off as.

It is actually worth it to hear what the passers by have to say and see the thing apparently expanding.

They were looking through his camera, which is obviously on auto focus and losing focus causing it to look like it's expanding.

This type of shit gives genuine UFO sightings a bad name.

Why no reference points were shown?

OP learn to use manual focus and apologize for wasting peoples time.

Thanks so much, IN5D !!

It's very interesting how this UFO behaves like a planet or star, i.e., stays in one place basically, except for appearing to set over time.

A "normal" UFO would appear to move independently of the other stars.

That's makes me think it is possibly a rogue planet, and that makes me wonder whether it has something to do with the phenomenal and persistent flaring of the Sun that we are now witnessing.

Who cares.

Let it pulsate and vibrate all it wants. It's not doing anything constructive for humans, and that is the end of the story.

This is pathetic.

Just find a twinkling star, or a planet effected by the atmosphere. Zoom in and out with poor optics probably using digital zoom and this is what you get, I could produce a similar video tonight easily.

Anyone who considers this sort of thing a UFO need to go back to school.

Re: Pulsating And Expanding Western Sky UFO - October 26, 2013
I watched a few minutes of the video and it struck me that it is exactly the same thing I have been seeing here in SW Michigan. I am located five minutes inland from the big lake near the IN/MI border.

It appears ESE of my location about 30 deg. above the horizon.
I started seeing it at about 10:00 in the evening EST.

I let the dogs out before bed and stand in the doorway while they do their thing.

I began noticing this thing a few weeks ago.

Sometimes I'll get up at about 3 AM and it is still there, although it has moved in the same manner as the moon would move.

I look at it and compare it to stars in the night sky and there is no comparison at all.

I can see with the naked eye that it has color, pulsates and seems to just stay in one spot.

Could it be a satellite?

Whatever this thing is...it is a lot larger than any of the stars. I live in a very rural area with little or no air pollution and there are a lot of stars on a clear night.

This thing is 2-3 times larger than any star out there including the North Star.

I have no idea what it is but it is different.
