Agreed! As ready as I can get, I think. Not just foods...have candles, battery light, solar lights, cooking means, meds and toiletries.

I love candles, but not in an emergency, those little solar garden lights work great, come in packs of 12 usually, can light up bathrooms, hallways, etc, without having to take light with you. I have 100-hour candles. Liquid candles in containers with wicks. Our natural disaster plan is based hugely on earthquakes. So that's why I only have them as backup. I do love candles though! Makes sense!!! Every time I go to Harbor Freight I buy more of the lights that look like wall light switches. They have magnets and velcro on the back. I have them in every room in case the power goes out. They use the round button batteries, and unless left on for real long periods, they last a good while.
