Oh and apparently there is a clause that they can't hire my company's employees and vice versa. But the manager said that my boss has tried to scoop up some of her employees in the past so she doesn't give a shit lol.
 Quoting: Simple27

Lol, I already like this boss lady! I can understand the fear. It's always scary to start a new job, but in your case you've been at the same job for so long that I'm sure the fear is tenfold.

Do your best to not worry about your anxiety being an obstacle if you would take this job. You are aware of it, you are addressing it, and you have vocal support all around you. It will improve over time because you are actively working on it. Plus, you know how to do your job and this woman is clearly aware of your capabilities if she's ready to hire you today after one conversation. She's even willing to break the rule about hiring from a competitor! This woman believes in you, so believe in yourself.

That all being said, the question isn't whether you can do it, but if you want to do it. Don't let them rush you, take whatever time you need to make your decision. Make a pros/cons list for each option, that might give you a visual. Think of any other questions you might have to help you decide. Perhaps talk to others in the industry you can trust to get their insight on this place as an employer. And don't disregard your gut.

However it turns out, I think this is so exciting for you!

 Quoting: KickinIt

I always appreciate your words of wisdom! It's a big decision, and the manager understands that. It feels nice to be wanted. She's so cool. I'd love working for her. My anxiety and fear halts me and worries me that I won't be good enough, or won't be able to handle it. I need to stop doing that to myself. Nef, Mini and this GM have all the faith in the world that I can kill this.

I am my own problem. I need to stop being so fearful. Change is scary, no doubt. But I shouldn't allow fear to prevent me from taking on such an amazing opportunity.

I think I'm going to go for it. I really have nothing to lose, and a ton to gain.

I'm going to wait until the weekend to officially send in the application. The manager already sent it to me lol. She really wants me to take this position and has already raised the salary amount.

It would be dumb of me not to take advantage of this. Oof...
 Quoting: Simple27

From the way it has sounded at times, how your boss takes advantage of you and is so difficult, and how stressed it sounds when you talk about your job...you have very little to lose and a LOT to gain from making this change. I wonder if some of your insecurity stems from knowing deep down that you are worth more than the current job gives, but have been stuck at it so long you are starting to question your worth.

You got this!!!!!!!!!!! Hint - don't keep approaching it wondering what could go wrong. Start imagining what can go right!!! Less stress, better working conditions, better pay & benefits, actually enjoying going to work for a change...that's a good way to reduce anxiety right there!!!
Big virtual hug here...cheering you on!!!!

Talk about changing jobs - way back in the day, I had an administrative position locally with the American Heart Association. My area covered 19 counties with lots of fundraising. I kept at it for 3 years, but the economy was dropping and it got really hard to raise money. I saw an ad for a different administrative job, interviewed, and was hired. I spent the next three years as the administrator of the medical unit of a federal prison! Talk about change!!!! I was nervous beyond belief, the first day I voluntarily walked into a locked down facility with razor wire at the top of 12' fencing. And walked down hallways with male inmates all around me. It was an experience I wouldn't trade for, because for those 3 years I WAS a bad-ass. I had to be. Three months after I quit, the inmates rioted and set fire to the area where the medical unit was. Glad I listened to my gut and quit when I did.

Since I don't 'have' to work tomorrow (but will) I'm attempting to go to bed tonight without taking my normal medicine to do so.

Clearly I'm still here and very much awake, but I did take some melatonin and oil.

I figure it's best to give this a trial run when I don't have to be up early in the morning.

My intentions are good. They always are. Wish me luck!
