Job update:

I had my initial chat with the general manager a little while ago. We talked for an hour. This wasn't an "interview", just basically getting some questions answered that I had.

This woman really is awesome. I knew that before and saw it firsthand with how she looks out for her employees. She's really cool. And she said that if I want the position, it's mine. She will make sure it happens.

Ahhhh...I'd be stupid not to take this opportunity. Nef and Mini are both cheering me on, saying I can do this. Big change, yes, but change might be what I need. Of course I'm still a bit worried with the whole anxiety crap, but maybe being locked up in an office alone for year after year contributed to this anxiety.

I'm really interested. HUGE pay increase and amazing benefits. I'd be a head position where others would be reporting to me. It would be a lot of work, especially during the busy season, but it wouldn't be the same ol' same ol' day in and day out. Which could be very nice.

I still have a lot of thinking to do (and praying), but I'm leaning in this new direction.

I suck at change. But I also hate being stuck.

Please just send me positive vibes and guidance and clarity. I don't have a ton of time to make a decision.

I've been with my company for so long that I've never had to make a resume. Imagine that? I have no resume. And I would need to throw one together for official purposes for this.

I don't want to shut the door on this opportunity. Who knows if I'd get such a great offer again.

Oh and apparently there is a clause that they can't hire my company's employees and vice versa. But the manager said that my boss has tried to scoop up some of her employees in the past so she doesn't give a shit lol.

Lol, I already like this boss lady! I can understand the fear. It's always scary to start a new job, but in your case you've been at the same job for so long that I'm sure the fear is tenfold.

Do your best to not worry about your anxiety being an obstacle if you would take this job. You are aware of it, you are addressing it, and you have vocal support all around you. It will improve over time because you are actively working on it. Plus, you know how to do your job and this woman is clearly aware of your capabilities if she's ready to hire you today after one conversation. She's even willing to break the rule about hiring from a competitor! This woman believes in you, so believe in yourself.

That all being said, the question isn't whether you can do it, but if you want to do it. Don't let them rush you, take whatever time you need to make your decision. Make a pros/cons list for each option, that might give you a visual. Think of any other questions you might have to help you decide. Perhaps talk to others in the industry you can trust to get their insight on this place as an employer. And don't disregard your gut.

However it turns out, I think this is so exciting for you!

I always appreciate your words of wisdom! It's a big decision, and the manager understands that. It feels nice to be wanted. She's so cool. I'd love working for her. My anxiety and fear halts me and worries me that I won't be good enough, or won't be able to handle it. I need to stop doing that to myself. Nef, Mini and this GM have all the faith in the world that I can kill this.

I am my own problem. I need to stop being so fearful. Change is scary, no doubt. But I shouldn't allow fear to prevent me from taking on such an amazing opportunity.

I think I'm going to go for it. I really have nothing to lose, and a ton to gain.

I'm going to wait until the weekend to officially send in the application. The manager already sent it to me lol. She really wants me to take this position and has already raised the salary amount.

It would be dumb of me not to take advantage of this. Oof...
